6. I'm celebrating because I don't have to fly through a hurricane
I was supposed to be going to Jamaica tomorrow night, but American Airlines cancelled the flight.

Sooo...I'll probably have an absinthe on the rocks (it's the pseudo-absinthe with hardly any wormwood in it--no hallucinating for me).

You're a good kid--stay away from those guys with long hair. ;)

3. Tuesday...
A sculpter that was working on a big metal bird feeder right beside the bar patio I was sunning myself on. He was covered with dirt and sweat, you could see the heat coming out of his studio, so I offered to buy him a beer.

He's going to make a nice Japanese peace ornament for my moms garden for Christmas. Only $200! Only in Seattle, man, I love it here.

20. Not most recent...
But most memorable.

When I was in college I was at The Citadel (a conservative military college) for a sporting event. My girl friends and I were in local hangout. Some young cadet was hanging out at the bar and I offered to buy him a drink. Honestly I wasn't even interested, I just have a habit of buying people drinks. I like to perform random acts of generosity.

The poor guy was totally blown away. I think his mama must have told him something about women who buy men drinks. And here was some Ivy League, smart, pretty girl buying him a drink. I'm not sure the guy ever got over it, but I'll bet he still tells that story.

33. hmmm
I stop with buying a drink ... the next move after that isn't mine to make.

I've met some very nice people who have stopped over to say "thanks for the drink" which takes quite a bit of nerve since I'm usually sitting there surrounded by 2 or 3 of my friends ... except for the few nights when I stop by for a bite of supper alone and I'm not usually buying strangers then.

However it all worked out for the best ... as it does when you can trust your friends. Even thought we had never met I was right to think I could trust the strangers at DU who turned out to be just friends that I'd never met before:loveya:

*sigh* it's taking a little longer than I expected to see all of the progress I'm still wishing for.

39. A while back. And I was criticized for it too.
Was in a bar with the ex-GF, who was mingling the room. This dude was sitting near where she left me and we struck up a conversation about San Diego and the real estate market here. He was a cool guy, a stylist, who bought his home during the 70's for $30,000.00 and now worth $500,000.00. My ex was still ignoring me so we talked more and bought each other rounds.
Later my ex tell me that I shouldnt have been talking to him and others in the bar dont trust me. Why? Because the guy was gay!

Bought three kegs for the party and a lot of the guests were folks I'd never met before. That happens every year, of course.

It is now 334 days, 18 hours and four minutes to FUNDAY XII (June 17, 2006 @ Saginaw, Michigan). See below for details.
