5. What sort of job did you have before?
Do you have any degrees or training?
If you aren't hurting for money too much, you might want to only apply to the jobs that you really want right now. If those prospects aren't turning out well after a couple of months, then apply to the ones that would be jobs just for making money and something to do.
Depending on how the economic situation is in your area, I wouldn't put off a serious job search for too long. If you are getting unemployment now, you don't want that to run out before you get a job. As you have read from other unemployed DUers, sometimes it takes a while to get a job, especially one that you actually want.
Good luck.

7. I worked in a video store.
I'm still in college, so I'm working on the degree. I tried to find an intership earlier in the summer, but nothing really panned out. So for now I'm looking for something that'll just get me by till school starts up again in the fall.

10 an hour wouldn't be bad, I do have tuition to pay soon. So it's probably going to be something that involves manual labor. But that doesn't really bother me, because then I'll be in better shape for my hockey season.

8. In that case
Yes, manual labor usually pays better than retail. Aside from companies that directly hire, sometimes temp agencies are good for that, especially if you are not looking to work for a company for very long.

11. that's a good idea!
thanks. my girlfriend works for a temp agency stuffing muffins into boxes. I like that kind of work because I don't really have to deal with people. I'm becoming less and less fond of retail as result, and also why i probably quit my last job.
