Some poeple are in a different world when they are on the phone and have no business driving a car. It's scary when I see someone holding a phone with one hand and gesturing wildly with the other and "driving" at the same time.They are an accident looking for a place to happen.

I had a car that was totaled because the other person was yapping on their cell phone and not paying attention to the road. I hope this catches on to more states.

8. They passed a partial one aimed towards young drivers

since the young drivers seem to have a higher amount of crashes than the older crowd. Personally it should be state wide.

9. How About Banning Big-Macs And Big-Gulps Behind The Wheel?

Electric shaving and applying lipstick should be banned too.

Personally, I find that using my GPS map screen is more of a discraction and hazard than my using a cell phone... those naturally those should definitely be banned as well.

And NO changing CD's! NO fishing around for another CD to put in the player!

Might as well ban SMOKING too. Fidgeting for cigarettes... looking for the lighter... trying to brush off that hot "fly-ash" that blew back in through the car's window and onto your lap, then onto the floor... smoldering... while you try to drive and use your left foot to stomp out the little carpet fire.

12. A side note .... Police cars have laptops positioned where

the driver can use them. This tells me that the law enforcement agency gives its approval for them to be used in this manner. I wonder if anyone ever made a study as to whether the use of a laptop by law enforcement has led to vehicular accidents. Probably more often than we will ever know about. And if they use them at night what does the brightness of the screen do to their night vision while driving?

13. My state has one, but it doesn't do much.

For the first year after they instituted the ban, it actually seemed to work, but now I see people using them every time I get in the car. What the heck's the point in having a law they don't enforce?

I live at an stop-signed intersection, and almost everyone who blows through the stop sign is talking on the phone.

I agree with it 100%. My husband and I have just gotten into the
habit of turning the phones off when we get in the car. YOu are
allowed to use the hands free phones, but I think when you are
talking while driving, whether on a hand held or hands free one,
you are not concentrating on the road.

At first it took some getting used to but now we comply with it.

There was a study a few years ago that showed people were just as distracted carrying on a conversation with someone in the passenger seat.

I personally think states have better things to focus on than banning cell phone use, though it does drive me insane when someone yacking on the phone dilly dallies in the passing lane.

17. I think that it's a good idea. There's nothing to stop someone...

from getting a head piece to still be able to talk, so people aren't losing anything really and the road is safer.

If people want to do things that will kill themselves, well, to me, that's their right. However, talking on the cell phone without a headset while driving can kill other people also.
