5. OK, here's the story
I showed up at a Borders Books & Music in Dallas and grabbed a ticket for a standby copy since I didn't pre-register. This was around 11:30 last night. I wasn't feeling 100% last night due to some heartburn, so I figured a little milk might help settle me down a bit, but the line for the in-store cafe was way too long.

Fortunately, there was a supermarket just a short walk away, so I headed on over there, grabbed some non-organic milk ("Whaddaya mean you don't carry Organic Valley?), and waited in a very slow line to pay for my milk, which I wound up drinking before I reached the cashier.

Just as the guy in front of my was paying for his stuff, I looked behind me and saw a couple of folks - at 11:53pm - holding copies of Half-Blood Prince. Then I turned to face the front of the store, and I saw a table brimming over with copies of the book. I rushed out of line just long enough to snag a copy for myself and paid for it along with my now-empty bottle of milk. And it wasn't even midnight yet.

The other folks in the checkout line laughed, but they all understood. We had to have our Harry fix. And it saved me from having to wait in line for at least an hour at the bookstore.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

2. Other
Ordered it from Amazon.com. Hopefully it will be in the mail today, otherwise I guess I just have to wait until it arrives.

3. It should arrive today.
A family member bought it for me from Amazon as a gift. They selected standard shipping. I just got mine, delivered by the US Postal Service, about five minutes ago.

12. mine was $16.16 @ Barnes & Noble. I have a membership
card, hence the extra discount.

I had not thought of just going to Costco to get it, but then I pre ordered @ B&N on a whim when I was investigating their brand new store that is just up the street. Had I not pre ordered, I probably would have headed for either Borders, B&N, or somewhere and just picked it up.

Last night at 10:30, I drove over to the store from my daughter's work place. I passed by Borders, and the parking lot was full. I figured by midnight, they took over the Linens/Things half of the lot too. The lot at the new B&N was jammed, I had to jockey for a parking spot. By midnight the store was just full of people.

I loved seeing bookstores crowded with kids and families etc, at midnight!!!

I also bought the next installment of the Robin Hobb series I am reading: Golden Fool.

My children where interested, when the whole thing started. Now they think they are tooo grown up for this. So I have to wait until it is no longer ridiculous.

10. Mine's coming international mail
Ordered the British edition to get the authentic language, so I'm not entirely sure when it's arriving. I think that for OOP, it got here by the Monday after the release.

15. I picked mine up on my way into work today
I have a friend who owns a small bookstore and I've had it on order since the release date was announced. It's sitting next to me on my desk here, but damn it all to hell, I've had this work-related crap to deal with here. At my job.

If these customers would just stop calling, maybe I'd get a chance to open it and give it a read! :D

16. Waiting for it to arrive right now.
It's on the truck, just waiting for it to get here. I should have just went to the bookstore in retrospect.

17. Just brought it home...
$19.79 from the local supermarket up the street.

No muss, no fuss, no reserved copies. Walked in and walked out.

And, to my delight, in the parking lot, a car with several Marines stickers--and a John Kerry for President sticker. :)

19. Mine came with the mail today from Amazon.com!
But I have houseguests and so I'm waiting to start to read it...Yes, I do have that much self-control...But once I start, well, let's just say, stay out of the way! I won't come up except for meals and the occasional bathroom break...
