5. 11 1/2 here!
Unfortunately, my beloved still smokes...sigh. OUTside. As an ex-smoker, I know that I wasn't able to quit until I WAS READY to quit. No amount of cajoling or begging from loved ones convinced me until I made the decision. Knowing that truth, I have a hard time dealing with my spouse still smoking. He knows the facts but he must decide...

You know that I've heard that your lungs go back to normal after 15 years of no smoking! You are stylin'!

6. about 24 years here
not sure what date it was..with the medical problems i`ve had lately i`m glad i quit years ago. my medical problems would have been serous life threating problems instead of a "regular tune up"

8. I'll make 24 years on November 19
You know I still crave one now and then. With today's prices I can't believe anyone smokes today. What is strange is it seems it's the people that can least afford it that still do.

11. I noticed the price of cigarettes at Costco today....
About $35 a carton. You know, I remember 50 cent packs from back in the day. Anyway, tehy can jack that price through the roof for all I care-- the tax on tobacco is one sin tax that I completely support.

12. I am, and I hope you are too....
I'm finally losing a little weight, too (which just means I'm getting more exercise). Good to hear from you Xema!

I'm feeling a bit guilty about all these congratulatory replies-- it was a copycat thread after all, despite being true. The thought of smoking a cigarette damn near gagged me even six months after quitting (I smoked for about 10 years).

13. Things here are going well
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 09:25 PM by XemaSab
I polished off the new harry potter in a single sitting, and now I find myself both wanting to work on stuff I didn't do last week at the office *and* find other potter fans to talk to about it.

These are pretty much mutually exclusive goals.

Also, my bum is sore. It was a long book.

I don't smoke myself, but I know many who are desperately trying to quit. It's tough.

Good on you! :yourock:

19. Oh, I'll be strong....
unless they come back down to about 50 cents a pack! LOL I don't think that's going to happen.

It's not so much a craving and it is just a want. I sincerely enjoyed smoking, but I'm definitely not endorsing it. It's nasty, it stinks, and I can't stand the smell of stale smoke.

But, I must admit that I walk a bit slower through the smoking section and I breath deeply!!

:smoke:

16. best of luck, catv....
The good news is that you reach a point where smoking starts to seem pretty loathesome. It's much easier after that.
