I volunteered at the B&N party (which was fun) and got a free copy.

10. Cool
My friend who works at B&N said they were selling it for $18 or $21 depending on whether they got a 40% or 30% discount.

4. After tax, $19.43...

6. Same here

$17.99, but with S&H, it came to almost $22. That's probably more than what I would have paid in my local bookstore, but at least I knew I had one today by ordering.

7. Order $25 or more and get free shipping.
I took the 5 day shipping thing cause it was free. I won't have time to read it until then anyway.

8. I bought it on a separate credit card
Didn't want to use it for more than the Harry book. Also, sometimes free shipping makes items ship a lot later. I have used it before, though.

9. Last one I ordered from Amazon
and by the time they added shipping, it was kind of expensive.

This time I waited and got it at that store that shall not be named for $17.

14. My mother-in-law announced she'd ordered for my kids: Free but late.
It may seem that she is being nice, but this is a control trip. She didn't ask us about it, or have it sent directly to our home, or anything like that. She has to receive it, repack it, and then mail it. My kids are now waiting around while their friends have the book.

I'm in a new business, and money is temporarily tight, but my wife and I agreed that if it isn't here by next week, we'll just buy our own copy.
