The years look like they've been tough on Carl Bernstein
I didn't realize he had aged that much. I always heard he was the heart and soul of the Woodward and Bernstein team. So what does he do now? You don't hear much about him.

1. Notice that Woodward gets top billing in the book, "The Secret
Man."

He probably did write it, and just had to consult with Bernstein on it, because they were in the Watergate thing together. He does most of the book writing on his own, now.

They are not friends. They have different politics. Woodward is a repuke. But I did hear that, too, that Bernstein was the heart and soul of the team.

5. Carl did speak the truth this morning...
said no one in DC spoke the truth openly for
fear of losing his or her job and that's why anon
sources were so important. (not exact words)
I looked at Woodward for his reaction since
he's been a prime example of this in his
latter years.

pretty sad statement on the so-called seat
of power in America.

2. I heard he lives in Italy
but may be wrong about that. But I do agree he seems to be the one with the zeal. To my way of thinking Woodward has evolved into nothing but a corporate puppet--he's in it only for the $$$ now. Also when I saw both of them on "Larry King" after the "Deep Throat" revelation--Bernstein seemed the more liberal to me.

7. Carl is the "more Liberal"..
I saw him talking about the Gore-bush fiasco on tv in 2000 and you could tell he was for Gore!

6. Carl didn't look bad in 2000..what's
happened in the last five years?

Maybe he's just not into taking care of himself, which is a shame.

I saw him on tv several times before the 2000 takeover and loved what he had to say.
