Great book, and an equally well made movie.
There were some significant differences, but it was as emotionally satisfying.

Now I understand why.. I did not remember that Fannie Flagg was involved in writng the screenplay. I guess she helped keep some of the integrity of the book.

I was aware of Fanny Flagg the writer, but since I was just a youngin' when Match Game was on I had absolutely no idea they were one in the same. Actually until your post I never reconciled Fanny Flagg the writer back to Match Game.

14. If you liked "Fried Green Tomatoes..." be sure and read Flagg's

"Daisy Faye and the Miracle Man" pure funny. It is a southern based book about southern Alabama in the 50s. Daisy Fay, our heroine, is a sassy blabbermouth who tells all about growing up in the south. I actually liked it better than "Fried Green Tomatoes" - if that is possible.

Good hot summer days made for laughing read.

Her later books I didn't like as much. "Welcome to the World, Baby Girl" and "Standing in the Rainbow" were disappointments after enjoying "Green Tomatoes" and "Daisy Fay." IMHO

My first view of her was (IIRC) on Jack Paar's TV show. She did a character called Susie Sweetwater, a southern gossip columnist. Used to talk about such events as a wedding reception at the Trailways Bus Station.
