DC DUers: What are some good, inexpensive restaurants in the city?

I'm going to Washington this week for the College Democrats National Convention. It's been eight years since I've been, and I wanted to know if anyone could recommend any hidden culinary gems in the city.

1. What part of the city are you staying in? Also, what cuisines?

We're on a limited budget, so we're looking for anything good that is also reasonably priced.

3. If you're willing and able to go as far as Alexandria...

It's not what you'd call handy to the Metro, but there's a great shuttle bus. If you go on the weekend, the bus is free. (Anyway, it was the weekend we rode it. Might be prudent to call ahead.)

I'll add more on edit if I remember anything. We went to a French place also in Alexandria which we liked; can give details if you answer yes on being able to make it to Alexandria.

foods pretty good ice cold beer, its right near Union Station off the hill, some fancy places in Union Station too.

If your into Irish Pubs try the Dubliner its on a angle across from the Brewery. Bullfeathers is pretty good too. The old Post Office also has a ton of places to eat for lunch.

6. Is Theismann's still decently priced?

I haven't been up there in quite a while, but when I was Theismann's was reasonable, and a landmark of sorts.

7. Like ethnic food?

That's one of the best bets for cheap eats: lots of Salvadoran, Ethiopian, Lebanese, Greek, Caribbean, Spanish, mmmmmm. Meskerem in Adams Morgan is great Ethiopian food. Edy's in Baileys Crossroads in Virginia is Peruvian rotisserie chicken and all the Latin American sides.
