Anybody use Wildblue for sat internet service? Opinions?

I have to do better than my 26.4kps rural dial-up internet service. I can't get cable or DSL in my location nor do I anticipate that type of service for many years. Any opinions? Its faster and cheaper than Direcway.

1. How much is it?

I'm sick of being on dial-up. Bell South offers DSL, and I was thinking about dropping my phone and getting DSL and Vonage...it would be cheaper than what I pay now for phone service and dial-up.

2. You are better off with DSL I would think. 50/mo basic.

I can't get DSL or Cable period. They don't invest money to service the rural market. If I could get DSL I wouldn't consider sat internet. The basic plan is 50/mo and it goes up to 80/mo for more bandwidth.

We used starband for a year when we lived up in the Sierras. The only times we had problems were during snow storms.. just like dish tv.

Upload isnt very fast, we are web developers, so that was a bit of a pain.. but not that bad considering the other options.
