9. Here's the deal.

Knee-jerk, reactionary neoconservatives, which is what the R party mostly is now, is based mostly as an emotional reation to fear amd a desire to acquire control. Mostly it is the fear of any real change in society. This is why they cling to the concept of unchanging truth in religion. Freepers begin with a premise that they accept for emotional reasons and then find 'facts' to justify it. Since their philosophy is based in fear, their solutions to problems are either to deny it exists, blame those who are suffering, blame those delivering the message or react violently. All of these choices call for inaction. Rs accuse liberals of hating America because it does not occur to them that we are looking at the problem from a perspective that does not involve assigning blame.

Ask an R to justify his opposition to abortion and the conversation will ultimately turn to what rights the prospective father has in the process. The issue is not life, it is control. Rs would rather live in a hole than let the state exert any control.

Ds seem to come in two varieties: a mirror image of Rs that operate out of compassion instead of fear and those who seek a fact-driven basis for the governance of society.
