Don't ever buy a car from
NANTIM ISUZU in Burnsville Minnesota!

To make a long story short they stole $3000 from my husband and I. My husband gave them a $3000 check for deposit on a car and didn't end up getting that car and they gave us a check to get the car back, then stopped payment on it, just to mess with us. It has now been 25 days and we still don't have our money back. We are supposed to be getting a check in the mail today, but I don't trust them. We went into the dealership on Saturday and I am really surprised they didn't call the cops on me, it was nasty, I was in tears.

To make matters worse my husband wrote another $3000 check (before we realized what they had done) to another dealer for a different car. Now we are pennyless until we get our money back.

I want the world to know how awful we have been treated by this company.

1. Call Hatch's office.
One call from the Attorney General to that bum dealer will get you your check ASAP.

5. I have already written a well thought out
"bitch" letter to the Atty General, and I have also reported them to the Better Business Bureau.

2. Don't buy a car from Courtesy Chevrolet in Houston
My husband needed to buy a work van to start a job on Monday. Friday they finally had it ready, but required $1,000 more down than they had said. We said we didn't have it, they said we could date it a month later and they would hold it (never do that, either).

A couple of days later they called to say that someone mistakenly took it to the bank to be cashed, could we cover it? Of course not. So I called my bank to find out what I could do, and they were really nice, waived the bounce check fee, but said it would still be bounced if I didn't cover it by noon. I freaked and hawked some jewelery, but didn't end up getting enough to cover the check.

A couple of days later, my bank called to tell me they were back trying to cash the check and that they would refuse the check if I wanted them to, but by then I had enough to cover it.

Crooks. In other words, I know exactly what you're saying - I tell anyone I know not to shop there.

4. Champion Ford (if they're still around) are another disreputable
dealer.

I ended up going through the BBB to retrieve my down payment.

3. As someone who use to sell cars, never put that much down on a car
that you aren't 110% ready to buy at that moment.

If you're interested in a car but are still at 99.9% and want to make one last stop but want to hold the car - you can sometimes hold it for $100. Usually the salesperson will ask just how long you'll still be looking and put a condition that if the purchase isn't done in a few days they're taking the car off hold and returning the money.

Please also contact your local BBB and complain.

And btw, there is absolutely no reason for them to hold that much money

6. Actually, the $3,000 was a downpayment, not a deposit
I only know this because I'm divameow's mom! And yes, there will be a complaint filed with the Attorney General.

9. You're right mom, I meant down payment
not deposit, my bad.

8. He was positive that he wanted it but
they turned down his application because of his employment history. He's gotten laid off twice in the last 3 years (he's in mortgage) but the new dealer didn't seem to mind that.
I thought they shouldn't have cashed the check in the first place considering my husband never signed anything. It was a Saturday so they told him to take the car home and they would finish the process on Monday, well we never even heard from them until my husband called on Thursday and was told "I'm still working on it, it's 95% done", he called again on Friday and was told the same thing again. The guy finally called him the following Tuesday and told him the deal and demanded the car be returned, well my husband asked for his deposit back and the guy said they had to verify the check had cleared, well my bank did this, faxed proof and talked to them on the phone, so the dealer wrote us a check, then we find out 5 days later they stopped payment, what assholes. That's when we went down there and threw a fit, the guy actually told us that was their intention the whole time, they just wanted the car back.

The thing that makes me the most angry is how we have been treated when we did nothing but cooperate with them.

7. Do you have an action reporter for consumers on local TV?
This sounds like fitting retribution as you get your check back and they get the negative publicity they so detest!

10. I am already going to look in to that
I can have that money in my hand today and I will still want to do something about what happened to us. I have never been treated so poorly, the whole situation has become so ridiculous.

11. Hon, you might want to post this in the Minnesota forum
so folks there know what dealership to avoid.
