I was going to go to the store. Buy some breaded chicken patties, cheddar and swiss cheese slices and a pack of bacon. The proceed to make chicken bacon swiss and chicken bacon cheddar sandwiches. I was also going to load up on onion rings as well.

Should I do this or should I not?

9. One of the members of our HS graduating class just keeled over
of a massive heart attack down in Tennessee. No one knows what brought it on. He was 67, a sweet looking, tall, blonde, blue-eyes guy. The 911 call brought instant response, but he was DOA at the hospital. Sad but true --

Maybe a quick heart attack is the best way to go.

Oh, I think I'll pass on your food. I just had an egg foo young with gravy in his honor. Now I'm feeling guilty.

28. Enigmatic, my 14-year-old Cocker Spaniel was playing around
with my young son and I one evening. She had a weakened heart, we knew that. She let out one yelp, and died right in front of us on the walk leading up to our house. It was certainly quick. (This is the only animal or human I have ever observed in the process of dying. I'm pretty squeamish on the subject, unlike others perhaps...)

Yep, a quick massive heart attack seems like the best way to go, aside from going to sleep one night and never waking up.

Of course, with the meal described above, it might be sooner rather than later...

In peace,

Radio Lady

Sandwich place near me makes all kinds. I love the Bacon, anchovy and chopped liver sandwich w/ onions and garlic mayo. No one like to be around me later that day though.

I picked up a copy of the latest Cooking Light the other day, and am considering putting together at least part of the Spanish feast in there this weekend. It looks incredibly decadent.

I'll have to see how up to it I am. I tend to get tired quicker these days. I think my kitchen stool will come in handy!

Enjoy your succulent feast!

11.  Myth: Saturated fat clogs arteries.
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 03:06 PM by Mr. McD
Truth: The fatty acids found in artery clogs are mostly unsaturated (74%) of which 41% are polyunsaturated. (Lancet 1994 344:1195)

Myth: For good health, serum cholesterol should be less than 180 mg/dl.

Truth: The all-cause death rate is higher in individuals with cholesterol levels lower than 180 mg/dl. (Circulation 1992 86:3:1026-1029)

Myth: Animal fats cause cancer and heart disease.

Truth: Animal fats contain many nutrients that protect against cancer and heart disease; elevated rates of cancer and heart disease are associated with consumption of large amounts of vegetable oils. (Fed Proc July 1978 37:2215)

Myth: A low-fat diet will make you "feel better . . . and increase your joy of living."

Truth: Low-fat diets are associated with increased rates of depression, psychological problems, fatigue, violence and suicide. (Lancet 3/21/92 v339)

Which is interesting, because I am much of an eater.

22. You could try..
cleaning it up a little--soy breaded chicken patties (Morningstar Farms Chik patties), fake bacon (Morningstar makes fake bacon), reduced fat swiss and cheddar on whole wheat bread.

Then go for it on the onion rings..

Or--just go for it but don't make it a habit. :)

Sounds pretty tasty to me.

Of course, I'm on a cholesterol lowering drug, along with blood pressure drugs. The net result being that my cholesterol and BP are not only under control, even by current, lower standards, they are lower than they have ever been since the onset of adolescence. And I do work off the calories, what with one thing and another. So it no longer matters what the heck I eat, so long as it isn't actually toxic in the short term.

I think of this as better living through chemistry.

I used to assign, ahem, an entirely different meaning to that term.

It is truly amazing how one's definitions of key phrases change as one ages.
