Is this ad too arrogant?
If you're looking for a hook up, just move on because I am really looking for more quality. I've been out long enough to know how things work and frankly, I don't consider myself much of a scene player. I am not part of the "all gay network" where all of your friends are gay and you only go to gay bars and do gay activies...I am far more deep than that. Hope to find a friend who isn't affraid to let love take it's course. If you have a brain in your head, take decent care of yourself and have a respect for others as much as you do for yourself, then I think we'll get along great.

(I didn't write it...)

2. Nah, I think it's blunt and straightforward
tells me that person isn't the type to make you guess. Not bad at all, imho.

3. It appears to be pretty arrogant.
Arrogance is often a product of ignorance about other people, more than conceit. When a person finds out how ignorant s/he is about others, if s/he adapts - good, if s/he doesn't adapt - that's arrogance.

4. Arrogant - no; assertive - yes.
You know what you want and you don't want to waste your time or the other person's time. I think that someone looking for the same thing would be impressed by it.

Good luck, HypnoToad! :)

6. I would have been impressed even one year ago...
Times change and nothing's forever... and the clock won't stop for anyone.

And I was like him, word for word even, for nearly 8 years. Let's just say life was lonely as heck. (and we're nearly the same age)

I've learned that to make a friend one needs to be a friend. Not show you're oh-so-superior to everyone else. People who look intimidating often get ignored too and that used to happen to me. (okay, I still look like a timid rabbit unfit as hasenpfeffer but I am changing and I'm not scaring people as much in bars, surprisingly... of course I do have a little bit of 'help' in that area that my counselor is worried over, but that's for another day.)

7. I missed the part that said that you didn't write it.
I understand your feelings. Hope you can handle the 'help', HypnoToad.

I'm an introvert, and bars are really tough. The worst thing in the world for me is to be forced to go to a party or something similar where one must small talk.

I'm not sure what you're searching for, but I hope that you find it.

8. Acerbic and judgmental with a wee bit of internalized homophobia.
Those cracks about, "if you have a brain in your head"; "all gay network"; "far more deep than that"; are full of contempt for other gay men. Proceed with caution. :hi:
