Shrimp or Catfish Po-Boy?
I got some business in Nawlins tomorrow morning and if I meander about enough I'll probably find myself in the Quarter bout lunch time (count on it.) So, should I have blackened Shrimp po-boy dressed at the Alpine on Chartres or meander down to Felix' on Bourbon and have a Catfish po-boy. Or maybe a seafood platter at Deanies in the quarter? Then I guess I'll have to mosy on over to the Tropical Isle and have a happy hour bud draft. What's a retiree to do?

1. Crawfish po boy.
Or maybe a muffaletta.

If the Royal Street Cafe is still there, sit on the balcony for me...

5. Excellent suggestion
Muffaletta's are incredible and incredibly huge. I believe there has been some shenanigans with the Royal Street Cafe (changing ownership or some such nonsense.) Many years ago my Wife and I had brunch there on a cool spring Saturday Morning on the balcony, a wonderful treat. Whatever balcony I find myself sitting on, I'll sit there for you.

6. Thank you, darlin.
It's been a few years since I fled the south, but my memories of N.O. (and especially the food) are precious...

12. Are there any other kind of memories of New Orleans?
I live in Mississippi but thanks to the interstate I'm less than an hour from the French Quarter. In my humble opinion it is the most wonderful city on the planet. And the food!! Did I mention the food? Did you mention the food?? Put it on your list of things to do - spend a minivacation in NOLA.

I do not work for the chamber of commerce. I just love the big easy.

11. Yep
The only kind I get in Nawlins. Just as well I've not been there much.

Shoot -- now it's basically 24 hours since I ate and this has pushed me over the edge. I'm going to go get me some vittles.

19. Oh, yes.
1977 or 78, I think, was the last time I was there, and I still remember.

22. It hasn't changed a bit
They probably haven't cleaned the place since you last were there. Surely you can stroll the quarter once every 30 years? There's a muffaletta calling your name!

23. I can hear it now. It's saying "Eat me, big boy."
Hope that doesn't get this locked as a sex thread.

Anyone who has ever eaten one of their Muffalettas would understand that it isn't.

Religious, maybe, but not sex.

16. Mike, I do enjoy a good Erster po-boy
I put them in the rotation, but the blackened shrimp po-boy (dressed) at the Alpine on Chartres - to die for. Juices dripping on the lettuce; the NY Times providing one with reading info; tourists strolling by on their way to St Louis Cathedral; another refill of unsweetened tea with extra lemon. Oh. My.

18. sounds heavenly-- and all this talk reminded me...
...that I haven't eaten a 'muff in years. The only way to get one out here is to reverse engineer the olive salad-- I just found a recipe online that the poster SWEARS comes directly from the Central Grocery's Lupo Salvadore....

21. Do it!
Getcha some beads and some bare breasted ladies to trollop in front of your house. Make that muffaletta, pour on the olives and have a damn fine time. Central Grocery on Decatur Street should be declared a national monument. Hell, if I wasn't almost inebreated, I'd go to the quarter right now. Mike, to do list, visit New Orleans, soon. Did I spell inebreated right?
