Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the navy
And probably will be for life
Piano Man-Billy Joel

Can someone please tell me what a real estate novelist is?

1. Supposedly...
the guy was a real-estate agent who was working on a novel that never seemed to get finished.

2. This is that part in Chinese.
保羅是個土地小說家
他從來沒有時間結婚
他正跟還在海軍服役的戴維聊天
他大概會在軍中一輩子待下去

3. And the waitress is practicing politics...
As the business men slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone

11. Well,
LSD_Ghost, didn't work for me... on so many levels.

Ghost was my nickname and call sign in the service. "LRSU", any guesses? Hint: has something to do with the Army. Now that I think about it, I should have gone with FTA_Ghost.

Where are you from in California?

13. I see you're reading my profile as well!
Manhattan Beach is my town, and it's right next door to LAX...SoCal...

LRSU...no idea! Army? FTA? I'm just not getting it...my turn to not get it! I'll need more specific hints than what you're giving me! Or you could just tell me...But I do like games, as long as I eventually get the answers!

19. My parents live in Newport Beach,
and my Aunt lives in Manhatten Beach.

Well, one way to translate FTA is, "Fun Travel Adventure", thats when a General asks you what it means when it is printed next to your name signed on a monument to our obsession and delusions. It really means,"FU** the Army".

LRSU, that one is a toughie. "L" stands for Long.. really Loonngggg!

20. Hmmm...
So the message I'm getting is: these initials are not official Army ones...but some sort of joke? Like SNAFU? Ack! Sorry I'm being as thick as a brick!

Wish I could PM you...but you're too new! Oh well...

21. Actually, "LRSU",
is an official designation, although I think they changed it to LRSD. It means Long Range Surveillance Unit. We do have some more, shall we say imaginative, meanings for it...

So did you grow up in Manhattan Beach? I grew up in Riverside.

23. No, I didn't grow up here...but my daughters did!
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 12:33 AM by CaliforniaPeggy
I'm 61, and have lived here since 1968! It's a beautiful little town, as you most likely know...I'll post a pic here, in a minute, to remind you!

Long Range Surveillance Unit: no way in hell would I ever have guessed that one! And I can bet there are *um* imaginative meanings for it! I appreciate the info...How long were you in the Army? If you feel like talking about it, that is...

Here's the pic! (edited to add)

25. Not to date your age, but
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 12:39 AM by LRSU_Ghost
I was born in 68. Not in Cali though.

I was in the Army, off and on, for about 12yrs. Don't mind talking about it, maybe some people can learn from my mistakes. I was recently medically retired due to service caused disabilities.

p.s. That wasn't a crack about your age, BTW, ma'am...

29. 1968? Hmmm...just about the same age as my daughters!
One of them was born in '66 and the other in '72...I'm truly sorry about your service caused disabilities...I thought perhaps that avatar of yours meant just that.

I'm not worried about my age...I feel younger than I have in years! BTW, I realize that you call me ma'am due to respect, but I greatly prefer to be called Peggy, or something like that! OK?

I hope I have a new friend! :pals:

30. Sorry ma'am..err, Peggy...
I chose that avatar because that was the way I was feeling today, I'll prob change it on a good day. Kind of hard to move around this morning.

It wasn't what you call a real banner year... (know what movie that is from?)

p.s. I think you have indeed found a new friend, esp. because you were the first person to welcome me here... thanks Peggy!

33. You are so very welcome, my dear LRSU_Ghost!
Is the movie "Born on the Fourth of July"? That's the one that comes to mind, anyway...

I make a good, faithful friend...you'll see..if you need something, just let me know, OK? There are many, many good people here...I am far from the only one. We really stick together esp. in times of strife and trouble. It is a fantastic place.

The rules don't state exactly when you will be allowed to do so...Probably around 20-30 posts or something like that. There are also some privileges that go with having a donor star, and I don't remember what those are, either! Some help I am...Sorry!
