Chased after a hit-and-run driver last night

I was grabbing some supper for ginbarn and I, stuck on the expressway during a rush-hour traffic jam, and this guy in a beige truck to the left of me rear-ends some woman in her SUV while trying to change lanes. Well, he backs up his truck - and smacks into her rear bumper again. Not smart.

At this point, the woman driving the SUV is walking towards the guy so they can exchange insurance info and all that; it looked like minimal damage to both parties. But the dipshit in the truck started pulling forward. Even with the woman standing in front of the truck yelling at him to stop, he's still pulling forward. Then he breaks away and starts heading down the road. So yours truly started chasing the guy. On foot. Remember, it’s rush hour, and it looked like he was going nowhere.

Then the guy apparently saw me chasing him, hit the gas, and I tripped on the pavement, scraping up my knee and ruining a good pair of jeans. Meanwhile, this asshole almost rams into yet another car in the middle of the traffic jam.

Fortunately, we got his license number, and the woman in the SUV had a cell phone and was calling the cops.

What a day. I truly needed some Tastykakes after that one.

1. Good for you! Most people just look the other way and won't help

2. He probably didn't have car insurance....

Additionally, he may of had warrants out on him. He may have a drivers license suspension.....Lots of reasons he didn't want to engage....You did good!

He may of been high on drugs.....may explain his poor driving skills.

Someone once did that for me and I can't begin to tell you how nice it was knowing that someone cared enough to go out of their way to help a total stranger.

But then again, I was trying to get the license number, and my body was flooded with endorphins that blocked the pain from my knee.

I've never seen a hit-and-run in progress before, and it could be argued that I should have let the guy go (he could have been armed), but what should have been a minor traffic incident with "I'll have my agent call your agent, are you OK" turned into what might be a criminal offense. It just seemed like it was the right and proper thing to do.
