Amusing LTTE in Green Bay paper...
http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/news/archive/opinion_21854848.shtml

Spare the trash in country music

GREEN BAY — I’m a country western music lover, so you can imagine how shocked I was to see a song I grew up with turned into a trashy sexual display. I’m talking about Nancy Sinatra’s song, “These Boots Were Made For Walking.”

That was a great song until little miss Jessica Simpson got her hands on it. Pelvic thrusts into the side of a car wearing almost nothing isn’t my idea of talent. You’re a beautiful girl; why cheapen yourself? If you want to behave like that, join a rap group. They trash dance all the time. Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette had beauty and talent but kept their bodies covered.

Spare me the needless sex. Our children watch enough trashy videos. I can’t understand why people with a God-given talent have to turn to sexually expressive displays.

We don’t need Janet Jackson or Madonna in country music.

2. A couple of points here...
1. I don't remember the song EVER being considered as C & W

2. It wasn't Simpsons idea to dress and act like that

3. C & W sucks...lol

3. Her "music" doesn't sell, but her nearly bare ass does.
And has this guy seen ANYTHING on CMT lately. Big and Rich??

Give me a fuckin' break.

21. I lived down the road from you....
near Memphis for what seemed an eternity....lol

I have a few friends in Nashville in the music biz.....one guy owns a small 8 track studio on music row there.....has done a lot of demos for a lot of the artists when they are starting out. He played with Roy Orbison for several years also.

Remember though.....Bela Fleck is out of Nashville....:) The music biz isn't all bad there...

4. Amusing? The author's dead on - especially w/ the comparison
of Jessica Simpson to Patsy Cline.

God dammit, I wish people today would realize that skin does not equal "sexy." :puke: I'm ten times sexier than any trashy skank who takes her clothes off on TV, and I don't care who knows it.

8. I doubt JS could sell a whole lotta records
without flaunting her sex appeal, good looks, body, etc. Hey, if you can make millions off of it, why not?

10. "Hey, if you can make millions off of it, why not?" Self-respect, maybe?
 Money isn't everything - someone should tell Jessica.

13. You think she's gonna feel THAT bad about herself
looking georgeous in some scantily clad outfit when she's kicking back with her millions? Doubtful. I don't think flaunting your sexuality (even for money) is something shameful to begin with.

12. I saw the video the other day
It sucks. The song, the video, it's terrible. I don't care about the sexuality in it, but it was just a shitty adaptation.

Oh, BTW, Simpson is a Republican, so this cannot be blamed on those permissive "liberals".

14. Now hold on people...
Pleas don't confuse Country Pop with country music...

There a world of difference between Steve Earle and Shwaina Hill or Toby Kessney.......

The people who are all over Pop Country are just too old to appeal to the youngsters that eat up Jessica Simpson Stuff so they copy that trashy style and put a little twange and get all the Chevy Truck drivers with the imppecably clean beds who get off on the Kenny Kieth persona to think they are listening to country music....

17. Come on now....
I did see Kenny before he made it to the big time....

I was at the Bluebird Cafe in NAshville and this guy brings this goofy looking kid into the room and asks if he could sing a song or two. He did and I was bowled over by his voice......

about four years later he is all over CMT, wearin tight jeans and shackin his good thing,,,,

Anyway, I hope you are kidding about Kenny and Johnny....

Can you see Kenny singing Hurt when he is in his 70's.

18. How come we never see
Sting or Bono butt naked? Because their music is good so there is no need to strip to get attention. I don't agree with the general tone of this letter writer, but I am weary of talentless harlots thinking they can sing.

23. It's not their fault..
some of them probably CAN sing....if given the right instruction they could probably become really good singers. the record companies are the ones that make sluts out of them...:)

24. "Jessica Simpson" and "God-given talent" don't belong in the same piece
The very reason she feels the need to engage in "Pelvic thrusts into the side of a car wearing almost nothing" is to cover up for the fact that she can't sing.
