I don't know why but he makes me laugh harder than nearly anyone else out there.

5. The Mark Twain Awards was a great show as well as the tribute |
|
Bob's wife is gorgeous, these people that have survived the trenches of the 60's & 70's seem to be serene in themselves--must be all those health benefits and those interest rates! No really, Bob Newhart is a true gem.

Not only is Bob Newhart a comic genius, he's a real class act.
Did you catch the Smothers Brothers on the Twain Awards? Every time I see those guys, I swear I tear a new hole in my gut from laughing so hard! Tommy Smothers' yodeling was priceless!!!

8. Amazing show -- I'm watching now in Pacific Time. |
|
Was part of the New York scene in the early 1960s.
Really loved his comedy -- different and not raunchy. We saw Mort Sahl and Lenny Bruce in the flesh at comedy clubs in the Village, I believe.
But never went to see Bob. Just bought his records and watched his show.
Great show with clips I've never seen before.

10. They played a clip from my favorite 'TBNS' episode where Emily |
|
scores higher on an I.Q. test than Bob. My favorite scene, which wasn't shown, was at the High I.Q. Club dance where Bob is introduced to the the guy who pronounces everyone's first name back wards. Emily's really impressed and then the guy turns to Bob and asks him what his name is....
Richard Pryor telling Bob he stole his album when he was younger was a great revelation.
The 'Newhart' series finale was pure genius.
I generally like edgy comedy but Bob Newhart was a master at understatement and funny as hell!
