unbelievable that any mother could say those things about her son, though. i'm sure he isn't perfect, but jeeze.

to hear how shakey, yet quiet and calm, the kid's voice remained while his mom was bouncing off the walls. If a stranger treated her kid like that, she'd call the cops, yet there she was berating her son in ways he'll never forget.

Did you notice how it seemed that the parent/child roles were reversed and how the the kid's quiet demeanor seemed to incite the mother even more? And I couldn't believe that the kid's father (or stepfather, whoever the adult male voice was) was encouraging the kid to just give mom the $50 to calm her down -- it was just like a parent who gets so worn down that they'll give a flipped-out toddler anything to placate him/her.

Yes theres definitly something really wrong going on in that family, Abuse, drugs or alcohol. The kid seemed like he was used to it and the man seemed like it didnt matter.

9. Kinda reminds me of my own mom during her alkie days

She wasn't quite as loud or hysterical, but she was capable of saying some really demeaning stuff, and once she had a 12-pack in her she could go on for literally HOURS about all of her horrible life problems, actually hoping I could solve them for her or something, and I was quite a bit younger than this kid.

On the plus side, I survived and since the title of the clip is "Why I Moved Out", I'm assuming that he is coming along okay also. At least, I sure hope so.

15. Ah, it's all water under the bridge now.

We were actually on fairly decent terms when she passed in October of 2003. I truly believe that she wanted to do the right thing by me all along, but she just didn't know how to cope with the stress of raising me after my father died when I was 6. She was pretty dependent by nature and when her husband of over 20 years was suddenly just gone, it was too much for her to bear. And, while I suppose there is now no way of ever knowing for sure, I kind of suspect that her own childhood may have had far worse trauma than emotional abuse somewhere along the line.

10. What's particularly striking...

The mother and, I presume, father keep lecturing the son about how things are in "the real world". So, in their conception of the real world, it's perfectly acceptable to yell at, mock, and basically verbally abuse a person in order to extort money from them, and someone who argues that this behavior is not acceptable must be living in some fantasy world.

He acted better than I did . She sounded CR-AZ-Y ! She did not have to act like that . Just because she took care of her own kids ( hello , she is SUPPOSED TO ) but she does not have to treat her kids like that - its alright if they help her , but she does not have to treat them like that . They are talking about the real world , these are kids . They would help her , if she acted like a human and not like a screeching PMS raged cat . And then when he said he would give the money , she was still going off . Crazy biatch - yelling and calling her kids that . I am sorry that he has to deal with her . Wow ... I would have really been in juvenile . She would have gotten smacked .
