I hope I get at least a decent job soon. I can't take any more of this rejection. I feel like I am having an emotional breakdown. I can't do this anymore. THe helpline wasn't any help today either.

Nearly three months now and no depression whatsoever-first time in 25 years! No side effects, nothing more to buy..it's Big Pharma's worst nightmare.

And yes, I've tried Wellbutrin (only takes the edge off), Paxil, Zoloft and a slew of other. Minimally effective and expensive as hell!

I've been feeling really rotten myself.

I haven't worked regularly since early 2003. I have no career and no friends (except one who lives cross country.) When I think of living another 30 years like this I feel very unwell.

I guess we'll both just have to hang in there.

7. I'm sorry, you will get a good job, it just takes a while sometimes

I've been looking for a long time and have had many rejections, that's a terrible feeling when you really wanted that job. It will come though. I had an interview today, which I think went well, they told me at the end that they'll be letting people know in 2-3 weeks which is very frustrating. Don't get down and keep trying. Well, I guess it's impossible not to get down when looking for a job, so just don't get too down. :hi:

8. Have you given any more thought to moving?

Obviously, living in your home area is not giving the advantage that it gives some people (networking). From previous posts, it seems like you area has an overabundance of college educated people for the number of jobs that are available. You would have an easier time of finding a job if you moved somewhere with fewer college educated people, but still enough jobs that you would be willing to take.
Go to various job boards and see what sorts of jobs are available across the country. You could do a search to find out the percentage of college educated people. You might also want to check out the unemployment rate. You could apply to jobs across the country, but may have difficulty getting to the interviews, especially if the jobs aren't sure things or pay particuliarly well.
You could just move to an area that looks promising as well if you do somehow get enough money to survive for a couple months without a job if necessary. If I remember right, you have a math major. Do you have any coursework in computers, economics or business, or science? If you do, be sure to list this on your resume for realted jobs. Apply for any job that says something about good math skills. Apply for jobs in the insurance industry, labs, quality control, and clerical positions. Look for jobs requiring an associates degree in anything that you have any coursework in. Apply to temp agencies. If you have had any retail or food service experience, apply to management positions at those stores. A college degree can be an assestt in areas that aren't flooded with graduates, even for jobs that don't necessarily require degrees. Once you get some experience and a local positive job recommendation, it will be easier to get a better job in the future.

I got laid off from a great job and went through 13 months of unemployment. Most times companies wouldn't even respond to my resume, making me think I didn't really exist. And nobody wants to hire a woman in her 50s. Then I got a job, but got canned after 8 months because "it wasn't a good fit." I'd never been fired in my long working life, didn't understand what happened, and got even more depressed. A month later my former employer -- the one who laid me off originally -- hired me back, and I've been working for her again for the past year.

Never in my wildest dreams, during that self-esteem-killing period of unemployment, did I imagine I'd get hired back at the original job.

Being unemployed sucks. But eventually you will rise up above it, and it will fade away like a bad dream.

This terrible economy is the fault of * and the corporate scum running this country into the ground and exporting our jobs overseas.

I think you're special, baby, but when you POST SOMETHING like this, and people answer and you DO NOT REPLY, it means one of two things- you've already gone out looking for a job or love, or the most vitriolic and hateful conclusion of all. You don't really give a shit about those who are trying to help. You have problems, but we ALL DO. I have had some major ones recently, but I'm not going to post them.

I'll give you a hug, but I won't get you a job. If you were here, we might go out together. I like younger men sometimes.
