What's a band that you haven't listened to in years but just went
back to on a whim or suggestion?

Share yours, we all might benefit from the reminders.

For me it's the Smashing Pumpkins

:hide: (hey, it's not U2 :D )

Yes, it does make a difference. :D

And Billy Corgan is an asshole.

2. Mighty Mighty Bosstones
I hadn't listened to them in years. I found a couple of my CD's and have been listening to them a lot lately, especially one that's Live from the Middle East. They were the best live band I've ever seen.

43. They were a great band. I did get freaked out
a month or two ago when I was flipping through TV channels and saw someone that looked like Dicky Barrett on 20 Thousand Dollar Pyramid. I didn't think it could be him and then his name popped up on the screen. :scared:

I'm thinking of picking up tickets for the St. Louis show so I've turned on Pretty Hate the past couple of days now.

5. Comsat Angels
I pulled it out for the Fourth of July, for the song "Independence Day"

Mellow and old, but still listening.

21. Another 'Sats fan, HERE?!?!?!?!?
Did you know that it's the 25th anniversary of the original release of "Independence Day"?

I have all their stuff on CD now, except "Chasing Shadows"-- which is as rare as hen's teeth, I've heard. They are one of my all-time favorites-- from the early stuff all the way through to 1995's "The Glamor".

BTW Steve Fellows (gtr/vox) is now the manager for Gomez, believe it or not.

Did you ever discern the secret message during the bridge in "Who's Behind the Door"?
"You hear the sound of thousands of smashing crystals" I believe is what it sez...or it could have been the Thai Stick!

I saw them once with FM and Rush. I always thought FM was a cool band...and much better use of the violin than Kansas. Anyone remember FM?

13. Been a Crowded House/Neil Finn fan for AGES, but went out and bought
a Split Enz CD the other day, just to really take it back a step.
Rather frenetic, some of it, and it's not all to my liking, but some of it is gorgeous and it takes me back to when I listened to them ALL THE TIME.
"I Hope I Never" helped me survive a divorce, love that tune...and the album was WAY cool, it had laser cuts on it, anyone remember that???

(yes I am that old).

I've been converting my old vinyl to MP3 and it is amazing how well they hold up.

Emerson Lake and Palmer - What was I thinking?

Yes - I must really have been smoking dope in those days!

24. The Chameleons and Grant Lee Buffalo
"Mighty Joe Moon" by Grant Lee Buffalo is one of my "desert island" albums.

I'm also on an 80s alt-rock kick: Chameleons, Comsat Angels, Psych Furs, the Sound, etc.

28. I bet that was a good show
I've always thought they were underrated in their time.

I listened to "Mighty Joe Moon" a lot during my last major depressive episode and it was quite theraputic. I'm tempted to say that if it wasn't for the title track on repeat late one night in 1997 I might not even be here today. A real lifesaver.

I've gotten into them more lately, but it's mostly song by song.

31. Yeah, GLBs first bass player was a BIG part of the sound
too bad I can't remember his name :P. IMHO his production was 1/2 of the band. They were okay after he left, but the albums didn't have the same "magic".
