1993 Volvo 240...Good car?

I can't find consumer reports older than 7 years...

I understand these were manufactured in Sweden, and 1993 was the last year this model was produced.

1. I don't know about the specific year

but the 240 were good in general. The newer Volvo's not so reliable anymore. They were always a safe car though a bit expensive to repair. We had a couple 240's but they were and '84 and an '85.

3. Okay. I've had 2 Volvo 240 DL station wagons. I sold the first

for 1000 bucks and it had over 300 thousand miles on it. (only because the air conditioner was broken) 1980 model.
Now, I have a 1987, well over 300 thousand miles. safest car on the road without airbags. If the newer models have airbags, all the better. I wouldn't drive anything else. Does that answer your question? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! I don't know how they've changed since 1987. I'd suggest you call my friend Neil Becker at Volvo Service in Durham NC. He would be most happy to assess the safety and reliability of the car. Expert, in his case, would be an understatement.

I had one of those, and have been thinking about getting another one, and putting a small-block Chevy V-8 into it. I know the engine would fit, and it would be the fastest bland-looking sedan that anyone's ever seen. But I can't find any for sale, anywhere.

PS: In answer to the OP, I've had half a dozen Volvos throughout the years (we have two now), but never had a 2 series, so I can't help you.
