9. What really happened to Peter Jennings?

Earlier this year, I swear I heard him talk about "resistance fighters" in Iraq, before all that "insurgency" crap blanketed the airwaves. The s.o. was there and heard it also.

Next thing you know, Jennings is off the air, ostensibly getting treated for cancer (he's been a serious chain smoker all his life, so no surprises there). His name is kept in the title of the news program, but he's only mentioned once, maybe twice, by his "replacements" as having visited the set and making good progress with his treatment.

So, what really happened? Did he cross the line with the "resistance fighters" thing (which is a lot closer to the truth than the nonsense everyone is spewing out these days)?
