Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 02:23 PM by WeRQ4U
My Choices = Squinky Nutpeeler (girl) and Slockety Jinxbutton (boy)

Here are some examples of celebrity oddballs that name their kids while on LSD.:

Jermain Jackson = Son "Jermajesty"

Gwyneth Paltrow = Daughter "Apple"

Johnathan Davis (KORN) = Son "Pirate"

Jason Lee (Mallrats) = Son "Pilot Inspektor"

Spike Lee = Son "Satchel"

Bob Geldof = Daughters "Fifi Trixibelle", "Peaches", "Pixi" and "Tiger Lilly"

Edit: Apparently "assholes" was too injurious to some. Sorry. I changed it for the sake of fun.

I think Satchel DID pitch in the majors during his prime. When he past his prime, he went to the White Leagues. Just my HO.

46. You know what I mean
Yeah the Negro Leagues were definely filled with more talent. Cool Papa Bell was one of the fastest ever. Gibson is rumored to have hit 800+ home runs, amazing if you consider he died at age 36, its a shame him and Bell never made the transition. The damn racism of those days prevented us from seeing some of the best players ever. Its a shame too. There are two people I blame for the long time segreation of baseball, Cap Anson and Kennesaw Mountain Landis.

67. Gibson was almost the first player in the white leagues
IIRC, many people wanted to see him instead of Jackie Robinson, but the white guys researched it and decided Jackie was the most "refined" of the players. Josh was a bit redneck, apparently. So they chose Jackie, with the plan of maybe bringing Josh up later. Sadly, Josh got sick and died shortly after that.

That's from memory, it could be a bit off.

Gibson was like Barry Bonds, only for his whole career, and not just the last few years. Definitely one of the three atheletes I most wished I'd seen play. Babe Zaharias and Jim Thorpe being the other two.

63. Satchel is a great name! (for the record, it was Paige's nickname
Paige got his nickname Satchel from a friend and next door neighbor, Wilber Hines, when they used to go down to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad station and carry bags for the passengers for money. Hines gave him the name the day Paige got caught trying to steal one of the bags that he was carrying.

His real name was Leroy Robert Paige.

However, Satchel is an old English name: SATCHEL
Gender: Masculine & Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: SACH-ul
Extra Info: Namesakes
Options: Contribute Information, Add to List
From a surname derived from Old English sacc meaning "sack, bag", referring to a person who was a bag maker

Ah, isn't Google cool?

65. I read somewhere interestingly that
Paige ran as a democrat for some office. Yeah here it is
"n 1968 Paige assumed the position of deputy sheriff in Kansas City, with the understanding that he need not bother to actually come to work in the sheriff’s office. The purpose of the charade was to set up Paige with political credentials. Soon after, he was running for a Missouri state assembly seat with the support of the local Democratic club. Candidate Paige never gave a speech, and was never taken seriously. Paige lost the election in a landslide."

16. Ima Hogg
Ima Hogg (1882-1975), philanthropist and patron of the arts, daughter of Sarah Ann (Stinson) and Governor James Stephen Hogg, was born in Mineola, Texas, on July 10, 1882. She had three brothers, William Clifford Hogg, born in 1875; Michael, born in 1885; and Thomas Elisha Hogg, born in 1887. Ima was named for the heroine of a Civil War poem written by her uncle Thomas Elisha and was affectionately known as Miss Ima for most of her long life. She was eight years old when her father was elected governor; she spent much of her early life in Austin

80. I knew a girl named Ulla
I kind of liked the name.

Sissy is not a very nice name.

I also don't think it was cool for George Foreman to name ALL his kids after him.

82. I once considered the name Orestes Ronald.
My mother was horrified. Ronald? Like Reagan?

Orestes' mother, incidentally, was Clytemnestra. That's a nice name, too.

Too fucking cool for words. Although Fifi Trixibelle is a damn good name.

Zappa was a master at naming his kid's dumb/cool stuff: Dweezil, Moon Unit, Ahmed.

I'm changing my name to Carnival or Rat. Haven't decided yet...

102. Strange names for kids are an old celebrity tradition
James Mason's daughter is named Portland.

Woody Allen and Mia Farrow named their adopted daughter Dylan and their biological son Satchel.

Barbara Hershey and David Carradine named their son Free.

And how can we forget Chastity Bono? And her half-brother Elijah Blue?

Abbie Hoffman named his son america.

Then there are Bruce Willis and Demi Moore with daughters Rumer and Scout.

Tatum O'Neal is a celebrity kid, the daughter of actor Ryan O'Neal.
