I was 18. One Sunday evening one of my dorm mates knocked on my door and asked my roommate and I if we wanted to come to her room and watch a movie her boyfriend had made. We said sure and over we went. The movie was a grainy, black and white homemovie of her and her boyfriend having sex. It was pretty amaturish. A couple of years later I was at a friend's house for the weekend. Their neighbor, a NY cop, brought over his VCR and a copy of Behind the Green Door. My friend and I were not terribly impressed, but her husband (also a cop) thought it was really cool and went out that evening and bought a VCR so he could watch uh, adult entertainment movies. My friend and I used it to watch grade Z science fiction. Their kids used it to watch and record their favorite shows, so everyone was happy.

A friend of mine had a VCR in the early eighties, the first among my group of friends to own one (I wouldnt get onne untill a few years later). One day while over at his apartment (his mother was at work) he decides to rent out an x-rated video, but he cant do it at the store near him because they know him too well. So he decides to use the membership of a friend of his at a different video rental store. So me, my friend and his friend traipse down to that video store where they go into the xrated section and picked out a video at random. The next thing I know, they decide that I should be the one to go to the counter to try to rent it because I looked the oldest. The friend of my friend tells me that it will be easy. Just go to the counter, give the counter jockey the friends last name, hand over the money for the rental, and thats it. To my amazement, it worked. Didnt ask me for an ID or anything.

So, we go back to my friends apartment to watch the video when I am stung by one of the worst splitting headaches I ever had. Both my friend and his friend are oohing and ahhing over what they see in the video, but I cant enjoy it at all. I'm sitting there in the living room with them, trying to nurse my headache and I couldnt have cared less about what was going on that tv screen.

Oh, and nope, I cant even recall the title of the video.

on edit: oh, yeah, I was probably 13, and it was pilfered from my friend's parents EXTENSIVE porn collection. This was before explicit films were allowed in Canada, and his was a Croun Counsel. Looking back, if the dad had been caught with this stuff, he would have been disbarred at the very least.

We should have blackmailed him when we had the chance.
