Has anybody seen The Pixies live? How were they, am I missing out?

Tickets for their show here sold out in 2 hours LAST Saturday! How was I supposed to know they'd sell out that quick? *grumbles*

1. They sucked

A VERY overrated band, from college radio playlists, circa 1989. Hip with the crowd who loves droning, whining, pretentious, pseudo-angry angst-ridden rock. Or in other words, typical college radio dreck, played by sloppy amateurs.

Not surprising they sold out. The students from that era are on a nostalgia binge.

2. I am familiar with their stuff

I like some of it, kinda hit and miss... but didn't jump at getting tickets right away because I've heard some things about them sucking live.

4. I saw them at the Austin City Limits Festival last year.

Sets there were 45 minutes I think. Just enough time for them to play some of their better songs and very little crap.

5. I saw them in December

I thought they were really good. I'm a pretty big Pixies fan, though.

They were much tighter than I thought they'd be and very energetic.

They sold out here in like 15 minutes, but they added a bunch of extra shows.
