2. "Makeout music for punk rockers"
as one of my college buddies called it.

I'm listening to Treasure right now after being on a Siouxsie kick this afternoon. Sounds nice........

9. I've had a jones for "Garlands" lately
"Blood Bitch" and "Wax and Wane" just blow me away. I bought the 12" box when I lived in the UK, and will probably listen to the whole thing tonight. Ah friday....

10. I think that's it
I've had "Juju" in heavy rotation today. I just found out that John McGeoch (gtrist on Juju et. al.) died last year :wtf: Where the hell have I been hiding?!?!?

12. That is a huge bummer
McGeoch was a GREAT guitarist.

You might recall that he came to S&TB from the muchly fab and tragically undervalued group Magazine. They were one of my late 1970s faves - nasty attitude but serious musicianship and the awesome lyrics of Howard Devoto.

25. Magazine were AMAZING
One of the first true "post-punk" outfits. McGeoch was a real talent and it's a true tragedy that he died so young (49, IIRC). I'm going to miss him

20. Total psyche-out coincidence

Had "Pure" running through my brain all day today... Odd. Not exactly earwormish.

Also have been plaing juju on and off for weeks...

7. My bass player screamed "Freebird" at a Suzanne Vega show
she heard him, too, and gave him a smirk and a smile. Yeah, she got it :)

6. If you like CT, check out Titania from Edmonton.
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 06:48 PM by tuvor
(Formerly the Sensualists)

Some really good stuff there.

ON EDIT: I'll bet a link'd come in handy. http://www.fedge.net/titania/

11. I'll check that
I'm a sucker for that sound. I'm a guitar player myself and have invested mightily to get that Robin Guthrie/Kevin Shields beautiful roar. Just a few delays, some chorus, flange and a couple Roland JC120s should do it :P

No, your band does NOT suck at all!

And I can make out the lyrics! ;)

16. dang
aw shucks! The blatant Guthrie rip-off sound is on "Valentines Day" and "Call in Well". Actually, "Call in Well" is damn near plagiaristic of Kitchens of Distinction. Totally inadvertant, but when somebody pointed that out to me I had to agree. :D

23. Yeah, I totally hear
the Guthrie thing on Valentine. Nothing wrong with that!

You'll hear a lot of that in the Sensualists, and maybe in their Titania incarnation, too (which I'm not really familiar with, since I left Edmonton ten years ago). Even the vocals are in the Liz Fraser vein.

24. I'll send you a CD if you like
just PM me your address. I'm sending a couple out tomorrow-- I'll add you to the list! :hi:

I'm the process of resurrecting the band. We've been on again/off again for the last eight years, but my recent divorce has created a lot of free time and has given me a boot in the ass, writing-wise. More tunes are coming, I just need to figure out how this newfangled digital multitrack recorder thingy works so I can get some demos done! :dunce:
