Devil's Rejects was awesome!!
I was so damn tired of all this kid friendly, pg-13 japanese horror crap. I needed a good, balls to the wall R-rated horror movie and this one was amazing. Sadistic, morally reprehensible, and just plain mean....but a hell of a movie

If you like horror and have a strong stomach, i highly recommend it

p.s. Rob Zombie rocks!!!!

1. You didn't like House of a Thousand Corpses did you?
Cuz if you thought that one was good too then I will have to pass on Devil's Rejects.

4. it wasn't bad per se
it wasn't the best movie I'd ever seen, but it was pretty good for Rob Zombie's first time at a major motion picture

This one is much better though. But be warned. The scene at the motel is the most sadistic, disconcerting thing ever filmed

13. I think I'll pass too.
I saw House of 1000 Corpses and the only horrifying thing about it was my level of disappointment. The story was inane at best, and the camera work was like watching a home movie shot by a speed-freak.

However, I have to admit if gruesome scenes scare you, Rob Zombie is king. Some of the special effects made my stomach turn, but that's not what I want out of a horror movie.

I love the kind of scene that makes the audience jump out of their seats. Classic scenes of that sort aren't necessarily in horror movies though. For instance, take Jurassic Park 2, the scene where the little girl is trying to climb under the fence and the raptor snaps at her I didn't see a single person in the theater sit still for that (didn't care much for the rest of the movie, but I loved that scene). Or another favorite of mine was in Se7en when the victim for sloth heaved his chest and coughed in the officers face.

I do agree that the latest in Japanese influenced horror movies have been lousy. The Ring and Ringu, as well as The Grudge and Ju-On didn't exactly have me wanting to sleep with the lights on.

It could be that I'm just picky when it comes to the movies I like, but generally, when I need a good laugh I check the horror section before the comedy section.

(my first post on the DU btw... my dad had been telling me to join for quite some time)

6. "sadistic, morally reprehensible, and just plain mean"
hey! you've just encapsulated the 'rob cummings theory of film making', found them highly flawed but liked the 1st & 2nd for what they were & will see the 3rd; but my sense is that these are what will be put forth as zombie film-fare for like ever = trying to out-do one's self from a previous excursion into splash & dash. here, it's been an afternoon the classic' thus far: eye of the devil & now: eraserhead

7. Really. I will check it out. Who would've thought R. Zombie would
turn out to be a cinematic auteur. He seems pretty comfortable and likable on the talk show circuit discussing his films.

12. Well, first, Welcome to DU! Second, it would seem
that we're neighbors (Tampa).

Zombie...seems appropriate, doesn't it?

10. I hope its better than House of 1000 Corpses.
because that movie, imho, for the most part, stank.

I did like the carnival guy telling me to press play emphatically.

I don't dislike RZ, Iike some of his music and I might see him on Ozzfest this year, but his last movie, shew. I just hope this one's better.

Sounds like it is.
