Anyone see 'Battle Royale'?

Better known as Batoru rowaiaru in Japan. It's about a class of 9th graders who have been chosen to participate in 'Battle Royale,' a fight to the death on a deserted island. Rather violent but I enjoyed it very much.

Some will recognize Chiaki Kuriyama who later went on to play Gogo Yubari in 'Kill Bill Vol. 1.'

1. Very good movie

Despite the extreme gore, which usually turns me off to a movie. Interesting plot and well made.

3. I hate gore too.

However, in this movie it was so comic book that I couldn't take it seriously. The director could have been a lot more gratuitous with the special effects. Also, kudos to the cast of teenage actors, they were all brilliant.

5. Much like Kill Bill

the gore was rather cartoonish and worked for the movie.

2. Oh yeah. Smoking. Non stop. Deliciously Japanese. Pure cinema.

Total insanity. Doesn't blink. So unapologetically true to itself. Beyond pulp. Pretty funny.
