If I ever get my hands on the inventor of spyware...
I will personally, gladly, dump the MF'er into a tank full of sharks that haven't been fed in a long time.

I do a scan with Spybot and Ad-Aware about every other day.

And every damn time, I get around a hundred spyware and adware "hits" that I delete. :argh:

1. Get Spywareblaster.
It stops spyware from installing.

8. I have done hundreds of SB installations...
It has never installed spyware. It is rearded as one of the "must have" proggies out there by anti-spyware facists. ;-)

3. It's a PITA I know, but you need more than those two progs.
and you need to pay attention to the names. I'd suggest downloading the demo version of trojanhunter and running it. Spywareblaster from Javacoolsoftware is very good and doesn't come with any spyware that I've found. You may have gotten something else. And finally Micro$oft$ anti spyware program is actually quite good.

Good luck

4. I run "SpywareStormer" just before I shut down the puter........
ALWAYS, without exception. That way, the next time I boot up I'm relatively certain the puter's clean. I've been running it for about 8 months now and I've plucked over 9,000 infections from the puter.
I share your hate of this crap and would like to meet that guy myself. Sharks wouldn't suffice though, it would be a much more personal thing with me. :evilgrin:

9. Spyware Stormer is not a good anti-spyware program.
Spyware Stormer (rogue/suspect anti-spyware programs)...

<snip>

aggressive advertising (1, 2, 3, 4); drive-by-downloading; (1); variant of NoSpyX, SpyVest, SpywareCleaner, Spyware Wizard, & Spyware Slayer (1); Ad-aware knockoff

<snip>

From here: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#products

Spyware Stormer is listed about 1/2 way down the page.

6. Okay, here's a question from someone who knows nothing
I run Spybot and Adaware, as well. Why is it that there are programs that can find and delete them, but there's nothing in the various antivirus/firewall programs that recognize spyware BEFORE it installs or as it's trying to install itself, and filters it? I would think, though I'm a complete idiot, that if my security programs can constantly monitor, to their best ability, incoming attacks, whey they can't monitor incoming spyware.

Or, is there a program that does this that I don't know about?
