Is a Apple Power PC with 320 megabytes for $50 a good deal?

If it's a G4, it's a good deal. If it's a g3, it's not bad, but don't expect Apple Works to be compatible with MS Office. (unless you're saying it also includes the Mac version of MS Office).

3. What color is it?

If it's beige, it's a G3 or older. Which isn't bad, if you already have software and stuff for it.

If it's blue or silver, it's probably a G4 and should be cool.

If it's an all-in-one iMac (fruit colored) then $50 isn't bad.

If you're more of a PC user, Dell is having a "Flatpanel Frenzy" where you can get a new PC with 15" flat panel for $350. It's not a powerhouse, but you should be able to run basic programs, surf the web, do e-mail, etc. PM me if you need the info on the special... there's a coupon code and rebates and stuff involved. 4. 320 MB in the hard drive?

when was it made, 1985? does it still use 7 1/2" floppies?

I was figuring the RAM was 320 MB, but if it's the hard drive, it ain't "last year's model" to be sure...

Are you planning to use it for getting on the internet at all? Because if you can't upgrade it to OSX then getting on the internet is going to be very difficult. I haven't upgraded my G4 yet because the cheapos at my office still haven't upgraded and I want to be on the same system so I can easily bring files back and forth. Anyway, I'm finding it's more and more difficult to use my internet browsers but can't upgrade them because none of the new browsers support OS 9 anymore. I imagine within the next 6 or 8 months getting on the internet at all will be impossible without upgrading.
