KFC Still Guards Colonel's Secret Recipe
<snip>

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The handwritten recipe that launched a fast-food dynasty and made Col. Harland Sanders world famous is locked away at KFC headquarters.

Its contents are so guarded that not even the chain's top executive knows the ingredients.

It was 65 years ago this month, at his roadside restaurant in Corbin, that Sanders perfected the blend of 11 herbs and spices for his "finger lickin' good" chicken.

Through the years, the recipe's secrecy has endured. And so has people's appetite for the Colonel's Original Recipe Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Only a few people know the recipe and are sworn to secrecy. Some are KFC employees, but the company won't reveal their names.

The Colonel's own handwritten recipe is tucked away in a safe at KFC headquarters, with portions locked away in safe deposit boxes at undisclosed locations as backup.

3. Umm. if it's a secret... does that mean they don't use it in their
restaurants? Cause otherwise, someone is bound to know what to mix together to coat the chicken. (Most likely at some mongo industrial plant where they churn the stuff out by the ton.)

10. The batter is pre-mixed and shipped to the restaurants
so no, no one knows. They probably have one factory that makes the batter and those machines are set on pre-mix

11. I read a few years back
That a consumers lab did a chemical analysis and all they found was salt and pepper.

The secret is the cooking process. I worked at Kenny Kings Kentucky Fried Chicken (The Cleveland KFC franchise) as a teen. Pressure cooked.
