1. this one time I was doing a bird survey
out in Blue Lake, and I was walking along and there was this dead weasel in the grass, just curled up like it had gone to sleep.

I took it home and put it in the freezer, and the rest of the story is in the "what's your least favorite color" thread.

3. thanks for sharing your weasel story, some folks don't wanna talk about it
for me it was less happy. i was walking home at 3 in the morning after an all nighter in east st. louis illinois when i was suddenly approached by 5 or 6 white punks pretending to be black gangster rappers. they taunted me and began pushing and intimidating me though i stood my ground.

suddenly out of nowhere a weasel dashed out in between the punks and me and it startled them so that they dispersed and ran off into the night.

to this day, i wish i could thank that weasel.

5. your weasel story
is much better than my weasel story.

Your weasel story has a happier ending.

Though, I have to admit, having a weasel skull in the spare bedroom is a pretty happy ending too.

Good times, good times.

2. I was at a town hall meeting
With my Republican State Senator, and all I could think of the whole time was "That guy looks just like a weasel".

4. It's actually happened a couple times. PETA liberated a bunch of
Minks from a farm, and when the Minks were let loose, they didn't run to freedom, they ended up attacking each other in a giant Mink Turf Battle.

for taking my weasel out in public

the rest of the story can be found in Maddy M's "nice guy" thread.

8. I was working in the Arctic one summer ...
It was about 11 pm, but it was still so bright that you could read a newspaper outside. I heard a rustling noise, and turned around to see a weasel carrying a large lemming (almost as big as he was) across the road in his teeth.

9. I was hiking once
and entered a small clearing. Off to my right I saw a weasel rise up and look rather surprised and pissed -- and it takes off, full jets, straight at me.

I was surprised for a split second, but I raised up my walking-stick in order to smash the point down on his hairy (and very bold) ass when his projected trajectory crossed my identified "kill-zone"... well, hopefully anyway, the little bastards are quite fast and nimble.

Now, we're talking like two, three seconds total, and the weasel zooms in close enough that I start to strike -- and he executes a beautiful 90 degree turn, still at full jets, as my stick strikes down -- and takes off into the forest.

...

Sometimes you eat the bear; sometimes it eats you; and sometimes you both go on your merry way.

The last is often the best option.

10. I have a great one
When I was a kid growing up in Maine, we lived with our backyard a forest that went for 17 miles. But this was right near Portland, a town called Westbrook. One day in November, it was way unseasonably warm, like in the 60s. I had just gotten home from school and suddenly my cats (one a big, tough Maine Coon) started literally banging on the door, so I let them in and they hopped up in the kitchen windows staring with their tails whipping. So I looked outside and saw all the dogs in the neighborhood banging on their doors too...

One even got desperate enough to come over to our house, where the cats were less than welcoming.

By now I had alerted my mom, and we were staring out the window when a huge FISHER came stalking out of the woods. He was already white for winter, and I have never seen such an evil thing. We could smell him even with the door closed. He had vicious pink eyes and was looking around to find something to kill.

A fisher is a close relative to the wolverine. They had never been seen south of Quebec, and probably haven't been seen since. We looked it up in the encyclopedia, then called the cops. They didn't believe us until the next day when someone's dog got killed and eaten. Then it disappeared.
