I have a question about wine.....
The name of the wine is 'La Gitana'. It's a Spanish wine which, I've been told is 'very' dry. After tasting it I can add, Yupp! Very very dry! My question is, this white, very dry, wine.... what food is this good to eat with? I've banged my head trying to find what the Spaniards find good to eat with this wine. I drinking some right now.... man! this is soooo dry that I may need to find my chap-stick! What food goes with this?!

2. That's nice. Problem is, I don't want to drink bourbon and I have all this
dry Spanish wine on hand. What I want to know is what food goes with this wine, since I already have a few bottles of it!

I've not heard of it, but I'm a big fan of Spanish wines. Do you have any more info from the label; i.e., what region/town it is from? I may be able to help a little...

Bodegas Hidalgo Fundada en 1792 Sanlucar De Barrameda
Product of Spain.

That's all I've found on the label.... On the rear, it says "good with seafood" but I find this wine so dry that it makes my mouth pucker!

8. If it's more than a year past it's bottling date,
vinophiles would consider the La Gitana undrinkable. So, you'll want to check into that.

But if it's within that point, it's excellent as an apertif with Spanish olives, almonds or jamon serrano.

Couple of ideas:

Try pairing wines with foods from similar regions; they've developed together and will often pair well. (The Spaniards might like some cave-aged manchego and briny olives with it.)

It'd probably go well with light seafood/shellfish meals or some chicken preps.

If I were you, I'd probably go with pungent flavors (like goat cheese) and some fruit.

I appreciate your ideas. It was brought to my attention that this wine, the wine I have on hand, was way out of date, which it is! I'm going to make punch from this. However, when I do get a bunch of fresh wine of this caliper, I plan on having a feast! Would you like to come? I'm still learning of the subtle differences of wines and foods.... probably because I was raised in the midwest.... I'm learning, though!

15. This is one dry white wine honey!
Makes my mouth pucker when I drink some! It's dryer than the driest 'reds' I know. One thing I can say for the Spanish is they really know dry wine! When you say that you love white wine, I'd bet you have never tasted anything as dry as this! Wow!
