3. Agreed.
I mean, obviously nobody goes to a wedding between to people who are too old to have children, or choosing not to have children, just because the people at the wedding would want to celebrate that couple's love. It's all about the having kids. :eyes:

13. Exactly.
Like there's no other possible reason or value to society in marriage aside from procreation and raising children of 'morals.'

40. I was thinking about this last night and here's what I came up with...
I was gonna post it in GD, but I'm a little on the shy side over there, haha.

--

Since marriage is solely for the purpose of having children, I feel it is imperative that we go beyond simply banning same-sex marriage to promote this ideal and protect families. We must also disallow any woman who is infertile for any reason, as well as any man who is sterile for any reason, from marrying. If this infertility or sterility comes after a couple weds, but before their first child is born, the marriage should be immediately nullified. Such cases should be investigated. If it is discovered that these conditions were intentionally created, there should also be legal ramifications, though those have yet to be determined.

Marriage licenses should be issued along with a contract stating that the couple Will give birth to at least one child. If the couple does not wish to sign the contract in question, then they should not be issued a marriage license.

Anyone wishing to purchase any form of birth control must be required by law to show credentials stating that they are either unmarried or that, if they are married, they have had at a child. Any married couple wishing to purchase contraception before the birth of their first child should not be permitted to do so.

In the event of an illigitimate pregnancy due to adultery, the pregnant woman's marriage should be nullified upon presentation of DNA proof that her husband is not the father. The woman and the biological father of her child should then be required to wed, else they face legal consequences that have yet to be determined. This is to ensure that the child is raised in the best possible setting: a man and a woman.

If an unwed couple discovers that the woman is pregnant, they too should be forced into wedlock so as to provide the best, most virtuous situation possible for the child to be raised into.

As a result of this policy of compulsory marriage upon pregnancy, abortions should only be available to those married women who have already given birth to a child.

I hope that other visionary protectors of the family can add to and tweak these ideas in such a way that the family becomes about repopulating the earth. (A clearly much needed repopulation.) Thank you for your time.

(And for the sarcastically impaired, yes, I'm being sarcastic.)

Yeah, it was written at 5am, so it's probably nowhere near as good as it should be.

20. Not only that. He's famous!
Santorum

Savage reacted strongly to United States Senator Rick Santorum's statements about homosexuality in an interview with the Associated Press published April 20, 2003. (See Santorum controversy for the details.) In the interview, Santorum describes homosexual acts as part of a class of deviant sexual behavior, including incest, polygamy, and zoophilia, which he said threaten society and the family. Furthermore Santorum stated that he believed consenting adults do not have a Constitutional right to privacy with respect to sexual acts.

Savage was outraged by these statements. At the suggestion of a reader, Savage challenged his audience to come up with a sex-related definition for the word santorum as a satirical form of political protest, a smear campaign for the express purpose of "memorializ the Santorum scandal <…> by attaching his name to a sex act that would make his big, white teeth fall out of his big, empty head".

After Savage published several definitions suggested by readers, a vote was taken among the readers of his column. The winning definition

"the frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex"

was announced in the June 12, 2003 column.

Fans of Savage (among others) have made a concerted effort to make the newly coined term a part of the English language, setting up a web site for the purpose and employing Google bombing to drive that site to the first result slot for a Google search on "santorum". At its annual meeting in January 2005, the American Dialect Society selected "santorum" as the "Most Outrageous" word of the year 2004.

12. Somebody needs to give that brain-dead idiot
a copy of Stephanie Coontz's book "The Way We Never Were, Nostalgia and the Myth of the American Family." I've finally gotten around to reading it and, even though I knew that conservatives were full of shit as far as how "perfect" things used to be, it's still a real eye-opener.

In fact, it's hard to read at times, especially when hearing the continual bullshit spouted off by idiots like Santorum who have no clue what the fuck they're talking about. It makes me want to throw them into a time machine.

30. There's a word for them--the hatred or fear of women
For hatred of women, it's called misogyny.

For fear of women, it's gynophobia.

And Santorum is filled with a lot of both, as well as completely filled with shit.

the culture is going so far downhill we will never recover!!!!

If it were up to him, the government would be peeking in everyone's bedroom windows, allowing religious icons to be everywhere on public buildings, and pedophiliac uncles (and aunts) to be hiding out once again.

32. I haven't seen it but I'm suprised that Jon didn't 'bring him down'
Jon gets a good listing of guests each week from both sides of the political spectrum. Rick Santorum isn't Bernard Goldberg. It's easy to bring someone like Goldberg down because he's nothing more than a right-wing political hack trying to cash in on the right-wing bulk-buying money train with his half-ass book. 'Bringing Down' someone like Goldberg isn't going to affect future guests on the Daily Show.

But as big of an asshole that Santorum is, it's not in Jon Stewart's best interest to 'bring him down' because Stewart would probably alienate any chance of getting future republican guests on his show.

But give us til Dec 2006, when Santorum is an unemployed ex-senator then he is free game!
