Poll question: How much stuff do you take to work every day?
The reason I'm asking is that I see the same people on the train almost every day toting around some big damn piece of rolling luggage filled with god-knows-what. Some of these things would be too large to even fit in an airplane overhead. What in the hell could these people need that takes up that much room every day?

Me, I take a small messenger bag with lunch, cell phone, a book, MP3 player, sunglasses, and a few pens.

3. My workplace frowns on me bringing my laptop...
...so today I brought a "FrontPage 2000 for Dummies" manual, a digital camera, some USB flash drives, and my study materials from DemocracyFest 2005 down in Austin.

5. What is it with those rolling suitcases?
I'm like you...I've seen quite a few people toting those suitcases around. Is it a change of clothing or something?

I just take a small bag, myself. Contains documentation for work, my cell phone, a book, some pens.

8. We have investigators where I work that have those.
In them are their laptop, and all their files for their current investigation. Sometimes our investigations are quite paper-intensive. So, that's one explanation.

9. I don't know.
I always want to ask people what in the devil do they have in there?

What's even funnier is the people with a wee tiny bag on wheels that probably only weighs 5 pounds, yet the lazyasses are dragging it around and tripping people. Pick it up and walk, ya douchebag!

15. My car
filled with crap. I've got two big storage tubs in the trunk with all my field crap and field guides in one and my sweatshirt, rain jacket, and rain pants in the other. Then I have my camelbak and sundry flotsam like my iPod, cell phone, sunglasses, etc etc etc etc. Then I have my binoculars and spotting scope. And of course, field food.

Good times, good times.

17. It's nice
It's nice to only carry a purse with me to work every day. I was a flight attendant for a regional airline for 2 years and had to haul a stupid suitcase with me everywhere, even on day trips b/c you never knew when you were going to get extended or junior manned (meaning they tell you you have to work an extra day and you can't refuse it) or there would be a delay/cancellation.

Why she brings a suitcase to a non aviation job is kinda odd, but maybe she goes to the gym every day after work and since she doesn't have a car to store her things in, and it's easier to roll a suitcase than carry a huge dufflebag, maybe that's it. I don't know. Just a speculation! :)

18. Purse, bottled water, maybe some frozen meals for lunch...
I think those huge-ass bags are laptop PCs and paperwork... so many people here wheeling them around. They must really love their jobs!
