I found
this Rolling Stone article which was written in October of 2003, now almost two years old.
It sheds some light on what she may be doing, where she is, and what she's up to. The article
kind of puts my mind at ease as to whether she's "OK" or not, but I still have this pining for her; her voice, her talent, her face, her sounds.
Her music was oft a panacea for painful things in this world. Since her last record, the world has become quite and ugly place and I feel like she must have something to say about it. Something scathing and on-point, but also something soothing that says "it's all gonna be okay".
I know she was slated to perform at Dave Chappelle's block party in Brooklyn last year, but I don't know if it actually happened. It was billed as a Fugees reunion. Erykah Badu, Fugees, Mos Def, and more were supposed to have performed. Anyone NYC DUers get to see it?
Anyway, I just was listening to "Miseducation" and was thinking Lauryn could probably put a scathing soundtrack to this fraudulent, fascist power-grab by the neocon thought-controllers and all their ugly incarnations as well as put our minds at ease.
Damn I miss her.
