Has anyone ever been to Vietnam?
I am thinking of going there for Christmas. I am going to spend 10 or so days there. I am definately going to go to Ho Chi Mihn City and I want to spend a few days at the beach. Where is a good beach in Vietnam?

Where should I go and what should I see?

3. As far as beaches, I really enjoyed Nha Trang.
But I haven't been there for 5 or 6 years so I'm sure it's changed a lot. When I was there, that was a nice beach. Honestly, I had a wonderful time in Vietnam. Possibly my favorite place was Dalat -- a sleepy hill country resort. Beautifully cool. Really gave you a sense of the French colonial era. I really enjoyed seeing Hoi An, another smallish village, and there are some very cool ruins near there of the Cham era. Also I liked Hanoi a lot. Saigon was very hot and crowded and bustling and I'm sure it's gotten even more so since I've been there.

Enjoy, it's a beautiful place. Don't be afraid to tell people you are an American. We are way more hung up on that war than the Vietnamese are. I told everyone I was American and the response I got most often was, "I have a brother in LA." I also got to hear some very touching stories of the war.
