It was the fact that DU, of all places, was advertising them (we have since discovered it was inadvertent, which I suspected, but is beside the point). People were rightfully voicing their dismay that they were at DU. The response, "Don't buy one" appeared to be very dismissive to that viewpoint, in the same way that "Don't have one" dismisses the anti-abortion viewpoint.
