Btw, I'm 26 this fall. For the past 8 years I've been living away from home, first studying (the bottom of a beer-bottle), then working (to afford more beer).
I bought a brand new apartment in this tall building, almost a year ago. About a month ago I noticed water coming down from the roof in my bathroom. I contacted the land lord and after a while it got turned off. It seemed that some doofus above me had installed a washing machine on his own, with catastrophic results. Long story short, the water caused some damage and because it took a while before anyone could take a look at it, my bathroom roof is now mold-infested.
Gee, thanks a lot, doofus-living-above-me.
Anyway, long story short, the bathroom has to be torn apart, mold removed, bathroom put together again. It'll take about a month.
So I've moved back home. My mother is thrilled of course, because I'm the youngest in the family and I guess it gets pretty quiet around the house when all the kids are gone. I actually told her that I was moving back home on her birthday. See if you can beat that present.
Anyway, it's actually not all that bad. I mean I used to have a 15 minute walk to work every morning, now it's a 15 minute drive plus a 45 minute bus-ride and THEN a 10 minute walk to work, and I have to get up at 6 am in the morning.
But! I haven't worn something that's been ironed in 8 years, and I have to tell you, it's not all bad.
Also I get an omelette with sandwiches and fresh cold fruit juice for breakfast every morning, she's been buying me new clothes (which I guess I needed), and when I come home there's a warm delicious dinner waiting for me.
Best part is, all expenses I care to document are covered by the apartment buildings insurance, and I expect a pretty sweet settlement from the guy above me when this is over.
So I guess it's not all that bad, and it's only for a month...
.. but god damn I'm looking forward to coming home to my apartment, put on a dirty unironed shirt, light up a cigarette and open a beer and watch porn for 12 hours straight.
