3. No more than
environment (including lingering cultural biases, which I think is a bigger problem than testosterone or estrogen) and hereditary biochemistry. Just my opinion . . .

8. I guess I just wonder what it is that leads
to such pervasive cross-cultural gender biases to begin with. Kind of a chicken v. egg model question.

10. Well, I'm prepared to be called "un-aMurkin" for this . . .
but I really think that collectively, we're sort of a self-absorbed culture (hence my reference to our culture being teenaged in comparison to many older cultures), which can lead to us as individuals taking everything way too personally. I know I'm not articulating this very well, but it seems that we believe our culture, our way of doing things, is the center of the universe, and a lot of that misguided group-think finds its way into our behaviors as individuals. I don't know much, but what I do know is that it's not all about _me_.

12. To get to the point in life
that you realize it's not "all about me" is such a relief. When I get offended by stuff these days, though, it's usually on behalf of those in less of a position to effectively and vociferously speak up for themselves. To do so for them I see as an ethical responsibility and one of the things that working hard, maturing, learning and indeed realizing it's not "all about me" has enabled to happen. I wasn't always in such an empowered position, but for the activism, risks, and sacrifices of many before me, I am far more so today. Time to give back... :)

7. Ah-ha! A classic Catch-22.
If men really do have impaired brain function as a result of testosterone, and you're a man (most likely within specs on testosterone production), then your opinion that men suffer mental impairment through testosterone poisoning is suspect, at best, supporting the alternate hypothesis that men's brains are not impaired by testosterone.

Therefore I conclude that men totally rule! Dude!

17. No- here's my story
Because of an accident I was involved in as a 2-year-old, my pituitary gland does not function properly, and my body does not produce the "normal" amount of testosterone that most adult males have. Incidentally, this low testosterone level has aggrivated an already existing major depressive disorder I've been dealing with since I was a teenager

I am on testosterone replacement therapy because of this, and I can tell you that it definately makes a BIG difference in my health. I am able to focus, I have more energy, and I am able to better manage my moods, too.

Because my testosterone level is now closer to "normal", I am able to live a "normal" life.

I know this thread was meant as a joke, but believe it or not we have these hormones for a reason. They are an integral part of being healthy.

:D

19. I'm glad you're healthier, nnns.
And this thread _is_ a joke, started by Forest Gump in the middle of the night to tease me for what I promise wasn't a smarty-pants retort to Khashka in another thread.

We're not making light of hormonal problems, and I'm glad the replacement therapy has helped you. :pals:

21. In my youth......
I was overflowing with testosterone. I was quicker of mind, but in certain situations when over excited testosterone took over and lead to some bad decisions. Kinda would go right from emotion to action in many cases, without that nit-picky thought process getting in the way.

That's why Forest Gump started _this_ thread as sort of a "tease Heidi" thing. :hi: The estrogen thread has been deleted, though.

33. Yeah, but there's nothing mean-spirited
about this thread, unlike the other one. We can thank our resident Elvis-officiando, Forest Gump, for that, goddess love 'im.

(What's for dinner tonight, Millie? I'm starving, but it's so dang hot here tonight that I'm cavin' in and making frozen, vegetarian lasagna for dinner. :eyes: We're eating on the patio to escape the heat from the oven.)
