62 Year Old Women upset about being searched grabbed screener's breast
GREEN BAY, Wis. - A 62-year-old woman who was upset about being searched at an airport shoved a security screener and then grabbed her breasts, federal prosecutors said. The woman said she reacted in self-defense to "an absolute invasion of my body."

A jury began hearing evidence Monday in the trial of Phyllis Dintenfass, who was charged with assault of a federal employee. If convicted, the retired technology school teacher could face a year in prison and $100,000 in fines.

Transportation Security Administration screening supervisor Anita Gostisha testified Monday that she saw Dintenfass activate the metal detectors at the Outagamie County Regional Airport in Appleton in September 2004.

Gostisha said she took the woman to another area, where she screened Dintenfass using a handheld wand. Gostisha, a screening supervisor for three years, said she was following protocol when she performed a "limited pat-down search."

Gostisha said she was using the back of her hands to search the area underneath Dintenfass' breasts when the woman lashed out at her.

"She said 'How would you like it if I did that to you?' and slammed me against the wall," Gostisha testified. "She came at me and grabbed my breasts and squeezed them with firm pressure."

1. Too bad I'm not on that jury..... I would acquit that woman in a
heartbeat! While I'm sure most screeners try to be professional (I've found this in Denver and Chicago generally), others seem to want to be rude or to embarrass-- one of those power orgy attitudes, I guess. This includes being inappropriate with their pat downs. If the airlines wonder why they are going bankrupt, this is the reason. I fly 90% less now by choice then I ever have before.

2. the most disturbing thing
is that a 62-year-old woman could slam an airport screener against a wall. Who's doing the screenings over there, Clarista Flockhart?

4. This happens to my Mom every time she flys...........
she's had two knee replacements and they always search her. She really fits the profile of a terrorist. :eyes: 79 years old, 4'10" tall, gray hair, as white as white can be.......but they always search her.
You'd think that reason would prevail after a while on the job, but some of these people seem to get off on their perceived "power" and never fail to humiliate anyone they can. I see ZERO common sense being used by these folks, who, I know are "just doing their job", but seem to have no compassion and tact.
