7 yo was horsing around with uncle and now has bloody nose

2. Ice on nose

Head back, some pressure over bridge of nose.

Ice it.

See if the bleeding stops normally. See if there's any swelling, bruising, or pain on and around the nose. If the child seems okay after 15-30 minutes, I wouldn't worry about it any further. If bleeding doesn't stop or there are the indications above, better see a doctor.

but head back just makes the blood run into the stomach, which can be a sickening experience, to say the least. :puke:

6. I had them all the time. Here's what works for me...

Head slightly back, and breath through the nose to spead up the clotting.
