The MOST ridiculous EVICTION NOTICE I ever got

.

Doncha dare tell me it's legal anywhere - well maybe in the USS of A ??

What I got here is the rest of the pix you will find at that site - type "GUEST" to access the the site, and select the album with "MATTAWA" in the title.

OH -

My rent is presently $150, that's for the piece of dirt on this 38 acre farm I have my own dwelling on(be that as it may) - no running water, and I used less than $30.00/month in hydro - I cleared the land too! oh - maximum dial-up speed out here in the boonies is 31k - yup -even a 33k modem don't get maxed out . . and no - cable?? whassat??

Can anyone can beat this??

I'll bet there's afew landlord/tenant horror stories here in DU land . .

1. I couldn't get in to the album
It tells me I'm miss_kitty, and I've used and incorrect password.

and it is weird. In many places in the states you need 20-30 days, and there's some legal stuff that needs covering. and the reason for the eviction makes a difference here in Seattle. If it's an eviction not for misbehaviour, and a limited amount of time is given (like I the landlord and I want to tear down the place) payment to the displaced person is required ($1000) and the city matches it, or something like that...

2. Login didn't work

But I get a good idea from the pic in the post.

Wow--I can't imagine that it'd be legal to increase rent by--what's that, like 75%?--with less than a month notice.

Nice handwriting, there, M-illegible.
*snicker*

15. Login is case-sensitive - should be all Caps - "GUEST" , not guest .
.
.
.

and methinks the landlord was on a wee bit of sumthing - his handwriting is usually quite neat

Besides, whoever would try to present a legal document (which that isn't) to a court with THAT kind of "penmanship" and items just crossed out and re entered . . .

and from $150 - $325 - ummm - that be over 100% increase - at least by our Canuk math - -

Hydro is included in the original agreement, and a legal increase would have been 3%, or about $4.50 a month

But even tho I got him fresh spring water from the property (gravity fed), instead of the muddy creek water he used to have to pump up from over 400 feet away, he took away my use of the water, and I gather rainwater -

So I'm paying $150 for the piece of dirt under my dwelling

- all the extra aggravation and abuse from his guests is free tho - - :eyes:

3. Canuk! How'd you get away with THAT?
Holy cow, man, you've got it made! And you're COMPLAININ'?

Well, at least ya know a reasonable conviction notice from a ridiculous one <<LOL>>

You're rignt, it's probably not legal for your landlord to let you live out there with no running water or sewage. But wasn't it nice while it lasted?

Where are you going to go next with your portable home?

5. Umm - I sorta know where ur coming from- But I don't wanna stay
.
.
.

where I'm not welcome . .

I am very familiar with our Tenant's Protection Act here in Ontario,

heck,

I could pay him NOTHING, and if he takes me to court (which he won't - U figure that one out - he don't want NUTHING to do with the law . . ) - take in the pix and receipts (over $1,000) for lumber, wallboard, insulation, plumbing stuff, etc, and clean his ass-

But ur right- despite his asinine behavior which this was just the icing on the cake, It was a beauty place( didja check the pix?) to have lived

(still got another month - LAST month's rent was prepaid) -

- he's so fucked up I bet he furgot that

I didn't - - :bounce:

10. IIRC you can't be physically evicted between October and May
Because theoretically you could freeze to death. Stall him until October, and you could end up living there for free for nearly a year.

I rented an apartment in a huge house once, and the neighbours in the house across the street were this rich family with, like, seven kids. This was a really upscale neighbourhood... They were renting the house for lots of $$$ and they simply stopped paying.

It took over a year for the owners to get them out, because no official agency would accept te liability of evicting children.

The owners wanted them to leave so they could move into their own house, too, so they had to rent somewhere until their deadbeat tenants moved out.

13. Wrong - they changed that back in the 80's
.
.
.

Too many Landlords were gettting reamed by people taking advantage of that rule

You can be put out within weeks if the landlord knows what he's doing, and the tenant is in breach of the act like non-payment of rent, interfering with enjoyment of the property(in the case of multiple dwellings/apartments) etc.

Tenant will be offered 14 daysto rectify the situation, for example, pay the rent up to date, stop loud late parties, whatever, and if they do not resolve the issue, the Landlord goes back to court, gets an eviction order and the sheriff/bailiff will execute the writ.

If you disagree - gimme a link, or two . . . ?

Ya might wanna cruise thru this site

4. I got in
it doesn't look that bad, but $275 for a lot is pretty steep. Seems like I know some hippies who'd let you stay for helping with the farming

7. NOT 275 - going from 150(hydr was included) to $325
.
.
.

Two things

ONE

Rent increase here requires 3 months notice in advance

TWO

Rent Increase is limited to approximately 3% per year unless a special application is made, and the landlord can prove he made considerable improvements to the dwelling/property that was of benefit, and/or requested by the tenant.

so

on ONE? - he's entitled to an extra $4.50 per month, not the extra $175.00 he is demanding

on TWO? - he was drawing his water from a dirty creek 500 feet away. I hooked him up to a spring uphill from his, and my dwellings. All the labour and cost was mine - he now has crystal clear spring water, more than he can use, and has taken it away from metotally - I now collect rainwater

That is but one of his behaviours-

I need not say more, water being the most important element for ANY living thing. . .

Sooooo

you were saying. . ??

9. Check all the pix! - short answer - yes, and there a humugous wood-stove
.
.
.

in a joining room - 8 feet by 12 feet, with another room the same size outside the thermalpane windows that never got closed in( I got ill, am recovering fine now) - and it's sort of a work room / greenhouse / stay out of the rain sorta room - Oh yea I got skyllights in there too

More pix at the link below, but photos aren't loading (at least on my 'puter) from that MSN site right now, I was going to link to them - but they weren't working - so that's why I used photobucket - the pix on MSN are much smaller files, and fit on the screen too - maybe bookmark it and try later??

no sign in needed just to peek at them - or even snag one or two!

11. LOL - and yup, I seem to latch on to all the BAD landlords
.
.
.

I know there's good ones out there somewhere . . . right?

OH

not one of them was legal

I didn't know that 25 years ago, when I got an official looking piece of paper saying

"You are hereby notified that you must give up vacant possession of________________ by ___________ or an officer of the law will remove you within 24 hours after that date."

I found out later(after moving out, leaving most of my belongings behind) it was something from the 1800's the guy just put his John Henry to . .

I'm pretty much an expert on our Tenant's Protection Act(was Landlord and Tenant's Act until recently) now -

Sued one Landlord in Toronto in 1993 for $3200 - got $1200.

Was more than I expected to get!!

The icing was - the Landlord got orders to effect over $10,000.00 in repairs to the dwelling . .

:bounce:
