Mom accused of dumping son, 4, on highway
FALLS CHURCH, Va. - A mother was under arrest Wednesday on child endangerment and other charges after authorities said she abandoned her 4-year-old son on the Capital Beltway, then struck him with her car when he tried to get back in.

The boy was treated at a hospital for cuts and bruises, police said. He later was placed in the custody of a child protective services agency.

Police picked him up after receiving a call late Tuesday night from motorist who said she had found a child wandering along Interstate 495.

"I said, 'Why are you out here?' And he said, 'My mommy left me. She was angry and she pushed me out of the car,' " the driver, who asked not to be identified, told WJLA-TV.

Virginia State Police said an investigation determined that Channoah Alece Green, 22, of Newport News, Va., abandoned the boy along the busy highway after she became upset with him.

"As she attempted to drive off, the child was trying to get back in the vehicle and was knocked down," said Sgt. J.L. Doss. That led to a hit and run charge.

3. That woman should be whipped!
How could you DO that to a little 4 year old? I am absolutely disgusted and I hope they give him to a couple who will love him and cherish him like he should be!

4. Holy hell!
She left him on an 8-LANE HIGHWAY where the average speed is about 75?!!!!

I am fuming. What kind of animal leaves a 4-year-old on a huge interstate in a strange area? People die every year on the Beltway from getting hit on the side of the road out of the traffic lanes, and this thing leaves her child there?! I wouldn't get out of my car there, and I'm 32.

I hope she goes to jail for a very, very long time.

:nuke:

9. Interesting tidbit from the WP article
Color me surprised.

:sarcasm:

Green could not be reached. The Hanover jail would not take messages, and her voice mail at a home number was full. The greeting on the voice mail was made by Green and her son, opening with the boy saying, "Praise the Lord," and ending with mother and son urging callers to "have a blessed day."

7. ohmygod...
that poor baby. Abandonment is so awful on kids--especially when it is so agregious (dumping him on the freeway versus leaving the home).

The "mother" was 22 years with a 4 year-old. She was a kid when she had him.

This is tragic.

8. Sounds like she was drunk to me
the two car accident that she had a short time later convinces me that she was drunk, once again proving that alcohol is a dangerous drug.

10. People like that should never even be
allowed to have kids. That is so sad. This child will probably be effected from this forever. I hope she is severely punished.

11. I have gotten pretty mad at my boys but
I could never, ever imagine doing anything like that. That woman is a nutcase and should never get her son back.
