Burmese Python Loose In Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- An 85-pound, 10-foot long Burmese python is missing in Milwaukee.

Alan Malicki said the snake's cage was locked, and his pet python, Mitch, was inside the last time he saw her Sunday night.

Malicki is afraid the snake could hurt, or even kill someone.

Malicki is convinced two people to stole her. He said his neighbors had a party on Malicki's deck the night Mitch disappeared.

"I'm afraid for whoever got it because I know that somebody stole it. Somebody's got that snake, and if they don't know how to handle that snake, and it gets in the wrong hands it could potentially kill an infant," Malicki said.

1. Yeah an infant, a small child, a dog, a cat, a lot

of stuff. Do they use strangulation as their method to kill? I am personally not afraid of snakes, but this one is a biggun'!

2. When it comes to snakes, I believe in live and let live...

however where I live there are many poisonous snakes which are not so easily seen; and, I have had many close encounters. I enjoy the outdoors, especially rivers, so I have learned to keep a sharp eye where I walk. Also, I have a slight phobia concerning snakes, but as long as they leave me alone, I leave them alone as they do have a useful purpose in the ecosystem.

When I see them (and this one should be quite easily seen) I steer clear.

3. I understand that. I live in an area

where water moccasins and copperheads are very common. Even sometimes rattlesnakes, so it is important to be careful in certain areas.

4. In SC we have

water moccasins, copperheads, coral snakes and six (yes, six) different types of rattlers. The rattlers vary from the pygmy to the six-footers. I have also learned that moccasins can very very aggressive. I've actually had them charge at me; not just coil up ready to strike, but charge.

5. I believe you. They are very aggressive snakes.

They will attack unprovoked. I bet we have the same variety of snakes thay y'all do here in MS.

11. I have also learned that if you see king snakes about

there are rattlers in the vicinity as king snakes feed on them.

8. They use suffocation. I had two 7-foot boa constrictors

at one time and that how they kill their prey. They wrap themselves around it and suffocate it to death.

10. I thought they worked like a constrictor. They squeeze

you so hard that you can't breathe and your blood vessels pop.
