Carribean or Mexico Vacation Recommendations PLEASE!!!!
Preferable w/ good scuba diving! Maybe a good Club Med or something like that that's reasonable and/or all inclusive.

I have two round trip tix that I won to anywhere in the continental US/Mexico/Carribean and I have to use them by 12/5/05.

Thanks!

1. I recommend you research Cozumel or Belize
for diving; I've heard they're both good and there're lots of reasonable hotels used by divers.

2. same two from me
Better foodtoo. I avoid the homphobic states in the Carribean(Jamaica,Caymans), and unfriendly(rude) French islands. How's about Aruba?.

4. Yucatan peninsula
or great camping surf spot about 20 miles up from Ensenada. or extend down to Honduras where there are two great Carribean islands off the coast that barely anybody (at least Americans) know about.

30. I have never stayed there
but went to Guanaja 3 times. The no seeums are the little sand fleas that cause everyone to get so sick and itchy and covered with bites. Awful on Guanaja since it is a lesser known resort with little popultions. They do not spray it as often, or didn't long ago when I was there.

6. Been diving all over the Carribean
and my very favorite place remains Tortola, BVI. Of course it all depends on what kind of diving you like. This is fairly easy diving, occasional current. Not wall diving so you can get lost. GREAT fish, they do not fish the Sir Francis Drake channel. Beautiful. Here is my favorite picture.

No, I do not work for them although I have used this picture a bunch of times here. This was a view from my room. I have stayed there 4 times. The dive staff is phenomenal and will treat you according to your experience. Excellent island, loads of fun, lots of sailing, bars, nice people.

We are thinking about going back over Christmas because it has been 3 years since we went diving. 3 YEARS! I HAVE to get wet again.

Meet you above the reef (Zen diving).

12. If you need
anything more just ask. I adore that place. I would go there every year if I could. The only other place that I have felt so comfortable and the diving was so good was in Hawaii. Big Island diving was fabulous.

An extra, my kids took their first dives and did their check outs in Tortola. It can be very easy there. There is also a day trip to dive the Rhone. If you have never seen something like that GO! They take you to spend the afternoon at the Baths off Virgin Gorda after the dive. Maximum depth for the Rhone is 90 feet. Lots to see including a Jew Fish (now called something else but I can't remember) that was as big as a school bus I swear!

Thanks!

I'm a beginning diver anyway, so it really sounds perfect!

I assume they have certification courses and stuff?

18. It would be
the perfect place. Lots of courses. The staff there is most excellent. One woman has been there every time so you know they are taking pretty good care of them.

It is not very deep, it is a channel. I did all my advanced training there. Night navigation was a trip but other than that is it the perfect place for that. I keep saying perfect but really, it is! Ahhhhh, I want to go back there. *stomping foot*

I have not been back since 2000. If it is the same there are nice rooms with the view in the picture. Those tidal pools are full of little things to look at so you can always snorkel around them just for fun when you are not diving. The grounds are lovely. The restaraunt there is good but expensive and the bar that serves lunch is just OK but Road Town is a quick trip down the road and there are a lot of places there. Pussers is good, always full of sailing students so it is loud and fun. Take a trip around to Soapers Hole for some of the most colorful places. Long Bay is pretty too and Carrot Bay.

They make a real trip out of your diving there. Always explanations about the area, what to look for. If you are looking for something specifically they will plan a trip to an area where you might find it. Most places are like that but this place just feels so fine and they do go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.

I have heard that Guadalupe spectacular, too.

16. I love Cozumel, and it's a great diving destination.
I don't really recommend all-inclusives though, because the food on hotel property is usually not nearly as good as local cuisine. If you DO go with an AI, just be sure to get in town and hit some local restaurants at least a couple times during your stay!

I am going back to Cozumel in November for my fifth visit:-)

19. I have been curious about
the Turks and Caicos. Did you dive there?

I know there are trips there during certain times of the year to dive and snorkel with whales when they arrive for breeding season.

20. I missed that...
...I went there to participate in a fishing contest. Caught nothing and ending up diving instead. I didn't hear about diving with the whales.

The diving is good. I would recommend it to anyone.

21. Thanks.
I have heard it is not much for the party scene and that is fine with me. If the diving is good I will be in for 4 dives a day or until my computer tells me NO MORE!

Just got back, on June. 5 days sailing and snorkeling.

I highly recommend the "Best Salad Bar at the End of the World"
@ The Bitter End Yacht Club.

32. Cozumel, check out Alicia's Bed and Breakfast... not on the beach
but cheap, clean and great breakfast.

The snorkeling is fantastic, and the eastern side of the island has these wonderful beaches that are quite empty during the week.

Of course Emily messed up quite a bit of stuff down there, but that in itself could get you some great deals

When we went to the Keys, we stayed in Grassy key at a place called the Seashell Beach Resort. Little Mom and Pop place on the Atlantic side of the island, very nice; just a couple of miles north of Marathon. We snorkeled several places ..definitely check out the trip from Bahia Honda state park. Oh but the best thing we did from that trip was the day trip to the Dry Tortugas..the whole day was fabulous. Sail out in a huge catamaran, tour of the old fort on the island, then several hours for snorkeling, beach play, whatever, then back to Key West on the boat.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks included.
