9. Did he buy into the James Bond wrong Martini myth?
Martini's should be stirred, not shaken.

Though, for the sake of quickness, I shake mine, slam it on the counter, and then let it sit for the few moments it takes to get the olives or twist ready. After a few moments, the gin resettles down and the bubbles go away.

41. And, bloody hell, you found me!
I'd love to do a Martini afternoon, but sadly, you just missed my NYC trip. I was there last weekend, though I was with others, and so there wouldn't have been anyway to hang with you, anyway, sadly. I'm sure I won't be back until next year again.

8. Make sure the vermouth
is merely in the same room. That is close enough to influence the cocktail in the correct amount.

And remember, the colder the better.

Trust me, I am a TRUE professional martini...er...consumer.

Three, I'm under the table
And four, I'm under the host!

22. Granted, the Martini is one of most foul drinks ever concocted by man...
...if you're going to make it, you may as well do it properly.

First, you need a bar mixing cup (glass, not metal) -- 1/2 filled with cracked ice. While you're assembling the ingredients, add ice and water to the intended martini glass or glasses to properly chill them. Leave the ice water in there until you're ready to pour your Martini.

Your vermouth and gin should also be kept in the refrigerator to properly chill -- well before you make this elixir.

For each Martini, add 1 1/2 oz of gin (or vodka) to the mixing cup, plus a DASH of Dry Vermouth. Stir with a long handled bar spoon about 10-20 times, no longer, depending on how dilute you'd like your drink.

Dump the ice water from your waiting martini glasses, and using a bar strainer fitted to the mixing cup, pour your concoction into the martini glasses and serve with one or three olives.

30. AHHHH! Don't desecrate the Martini name by making new words
from it!

It's not a Snifftini, it's a Sniffa Cocktail.

Martini is a NAME, like Bonneville or Rib-Eye or Elbow.

Cocktail is the category, like car, meat, or pasta.

Anyone putting "tini" at the end of a drink should have his testicles cut off in public with a fly fishing rod (or if a her, then something suitably equivalent) and forced to do public service for 900,000,000 hours pearching the word of cocktail purity to our youngsters and trendy yuppies.

44. Public Fly-rod De-Testicleazation is TRULY a lost art
one not often practiced in polite society these days. A decent vodka martini should go down like lemony ice water. (If you like a twist with it that is) A decent Gin martini doesnt exist!!!

... to drink Vodka ( or gin ) straight, or nearly so.

Kinda like a VO Manhattan is a reason to drink VO straight.
