It's mighty fine. Everything I liked about her voice and then some, easier to pick out of the music.

And the music's awesome.

1. Yeah, that was a great album. I don't think that she's had anything...

as good as that since, has she?

She really is very talented, in my opinion, and I admire her honesty in that album.

2. Alternating honesty with cliche...

...very cleverly, IMO. She'll start by mouthing cliches, then drop an f-bomb or other blunt phrasing to let you know what she really feels. I like that a lot.

It works particularly well in "You Oughta Know," but she's mining the same territory in "Unsent," in which her odd emPHAses help undercut the load of BS she feeds us. The sheer weight of all that denial carries quite an emotional wallop. Neat-o.
